Guest guest
Hello ,I saw your subject line & wanted to tell you, there are very many lovely people here who know what you are going through & will help you. Please don't lose hope; people can & do overcome this. My mother, in Surrey, also has this problem & I joined this group to help give her ideas. The people here are fantastic & my mother is now much better than she was. There are a lot of different ideas & some things work better for some people than others. I know it may sound odd to you, but so many people have found fungus to be a contributing factor, in that the fungus may be attracting the mites or the mites are causing co-infections which use the fungus. It must be well worth giving anti fungal treatments a go, along with your cleaning & treating with various things. Like so many other people, my mother found that going to her GP resulted in being diagnosed as delusional (she now has a nicer GP, though her GP does not really know how to treat her). It could be possible to ask your GP to prescribe some anti fungal drugs & see whether they help. Anyway, I'll end now as there are lots of people here who care & will give you support, & are far more knowledgeable than I.Take care, remember you have friends here. Guest guest
-I have gotten through the infestation. I did move but the bugs moved with me, they are attracted to your body due to infections. Most have Lyme at the root as well as co-infections and opportunistic infections(often fungal). When I got treated for the infections the biting stopped 100% and eventually I didn't get the black specks on the skin, lint cocoons, etc. It took one year of aggressive treatment to resolve it. Guest guest
Where do you live ? I'm having an increase in carpal tunnel on right hand right now, so won't be able to type too much. Sounds very much like birdmites to me. Everything you describe I had. All of it. That was in 2008, April. If you can't find the source of the where the mites came in and if birds are still using that space, you will need to move. You have to remove the source of the infestation and if there are birds and/or nests there, they will continue to want to find another host (you). Whatever is nearest seems to get it, including your cat. I never found birdmites in our house, nor did pest control, but county pest control did find rodent droppings and we had been around birds quite a bit too. Something very weird is happening in nature right now that all of us are coming down with similar symptoms, usually gardening related or bird related, or sometimes related to some particular insect that bit us or came into our homes. Remember bees going through colony collapse syndrome? I think it is being caused by something, may be mite, might be something else that is killing certain things off.All the products you mentioned I used. If you choose to stay where you are maybe you could buy a fogger and some Cedarcide but the place where the infestation must be dealt with, then start to do internals quickly. Don't wait. I would start with bathing in Borax and Arm and Hammer and if they are mites on the outside or the body, this seems to start to kill them, while dealing with the environmental infestation too. They go internal so start taking MSM and start to alkalinize your internal system by improving your diet, eliminating sugars, anything artificial, getting your internal system in tip top shape. MMS also is an option if you have little money and that should be used in a bath too, 40 activated drops in a tub of water and soak whole body, head, etc. This should be done daily. Start taking MMS one drop at a time, activated, 3x/day and increasing dose each day by one drop. This starts to kill fungus and other microbes in the body.Keep cleaning and hoovering, change bag frequently and keep hoover outside if possible. If you have a bagless hoover, flush out the part that holds the dirt with hot hot water frequently. Get diatomaceous earth and spread it wherever you can because they don't seem to move well in DE and it may kill them. We had less movement with DE. On clothing, do you have a steam iron and ironing board? Iron your clothing during this time. I was a proponent of purchasing a steam press (like used in dry cleaners, only much smaller)... we purchased one and I steamed everything for a year, even small towels. It helps more than you can imagine. If these are birdmites, they hide during the day and come out mainly at night. They are microscopic, but try to get an ID if possible. I believe they are birdmites from the description. This is not a quick process so you will have to work on coping skills a lot. It was one of the worst times in our lives here. We tossed over half of our belongings and many here on this site moved, some multiple times, but ultimately after things start to be more or less under control, most people discover they have to work on internal measures because for some reason you were picked as a host and internal bacterias, fungi, etc., attract these particular mites to us. So you have to work on internals. Some found medications helpful - some developed or had pre-existing Lyme Disease (I did and many others) and now are working on those issues almost solely.I'd say pray often... keep it up. If this takes you to a place of fear, ask God for help. Many of us felt suicidal at the beginning... I felt like burning my townhouse down, but didn't. We removed all carpeting, sprayed and sprayed and kept spraying, cleaning, removing fungus and molds... unfortunately it is expensive all the clean up. Keep sharing and others will help you sort routines out. From: "christine french" <karmakatmeow@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, December 2, 2011 2:50:24 PMSubject: overwhelmed and terribly depressedDear allIm new to the site ,hello and sorry we all have to be here!:-(Though good theres a site to help each other!:-)I need some help!Live on my own with my wee old ill cat n have rented here three years n loved it until my problems started in julyMy cat an indoor cat but caught fleas somehow in julyThe flat got infestedSpent six weeks exhaustin myself tryin enviromentaly safe ways to get rid fleas,as well as gve cat program to sterilize fleasI was bitten, used salt, bicarb soda, steamer, enviromental friendly flea spray, diatemeous earth then two lots spray oct n nov of permethrin with igr in itThe spray help a bit fleas nearly awayBut had said for months as well as what looked like fleas were tiny black dotsAll footwear infestedCrawlin sensation clothesPermethrin shoes several times still bad bittenPinprick bitesAfectin my mental health now went on too longHooverin like mad ladyWashed all clothes 60 degree, have no dryer but still. Guest guest
Really good advice. You might want to consider moving if you can't do a lot of the environmental clean up. If you live in Great Britain it most likely has mold issues because of the dampness... it is so hard to move when we have loved a place as you do. The sooner you can start treating internally the better. From: "Aandraya Da Silva" <aandraya@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, December 2, 2011 4:22:20 PMSubject: Re: overwhelmed and terribly depressed -I have gotten through the infestation. Guest guest
Dear C, I really feel for you. I had similar problems starting in July too. What helped us was drinking apple cider vinegar in water many times a day. I also drank water with baking soda (1tsp) and borax (1/8th tsp) mixed with 26 oz of water, for 3 days, then off the borax for 2 days (did this for a month). I ran a dehumidifier all the time. I used a zapper on my cat and myself. The zapper was a little expensive, but it really worked. I am still using it, I feel them hit me, but no more bites. It is much more difficult to get the cat clear of them. My cat is old, and I fed her a little food grade DE in her cat food, plus a little vinegar/water. I am no longer bothered by them, but I feel them when I go into closets. I had my ducts cleaned but still seem to sweep up debris. I have not moved, but I think it may be a fungal infection that attracts these mites. I think it is being caused by something, may be mite, might be something else that is killing certain things off. > > >All the products you mentioned I used. This starts to kill fungus and other microbes in the body. > > >Keep cleaning and hoovering, change bag frequently and keep hoover outside if possible. Some found medications helpful - some developed or had pre-existing Lyme Disease (I did and many others) and now are working on those issues almost solely. > > >I'd say pray often... Keep sharing and others will help you sort routines out. > > > > > > > > > overwhelmed and terribly depressed > >Dear all >Im new to the site ,hello and sorry we all have to be here!:-( >Though good theres a site to help each other!:-) >I need some help! >Live on my own with my wee old ill cat n have rented here three years n loved it until my problems started in july >My cat an indoor cat but caught fleas somehow in july >The flat got infested > >Spent six weeks exhaustin myself tryin enviromentaly safe ways to get rid fleas,as well as gve cat program to sterilize fleas >I was bitten, used salt, bicarb soda, steamer, enviromental friendly flea spray, diatemeous earth then two lots spray oct n nov of permethrin with igr in it >The spray help a bit fleas nearly away >But had said for months as well as what looked like fleas were tiny black dots > >All footwear infested >Crawlin sensation clothes >Permethrin shoes several times still bad bitten >Pinprick bites >Afectin my mental health now went on too long >Hooverin like mad lady >Washed all clothes 60 degree, have no dryer but still. Guest guest
Hi For shoes I put 1/2- 1 cup Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent in eash shoe & mist a little windex in the shoe & shake shoes all around., then wait 1-8 hrs & shake out clean. All bugs were gone & stayed gone. I use 1/4 cup baking soda in each shoe daily & have had no problems since . I love boots because of the protection they offer. I also use baking soda in a duster & puff it all over the stop any bug traffic , it stops all movement instantley ,then I can go back later & wash all the sufaces with 1 cup borax & 1 cup spic n span or lyso. Tha really cleans up the area well & apolstery, I dry apolstry with a hair dryer for 6-12 hrs , it works great Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent is the end of this bug , it works miracles , but not like God does . Pray hard God will help A poster named SKF was cured from soaking in 1 cup a & h soap ,she sprayed her house with 1 cup per gallon in a garden pump spayer ,she was terribly infested before thei & had tried it all, even lighter fluid in the bath water ( which caued her to have to go to the hospital ,so you have to be careful with chemicals.
Remember beesgoing through colony collapse syndrome? I think it is being caused by something, may be mite, might be something else that is killing certain things off. >>>All the products you mentioned I used. This starts to kill fungus and other microbes in the body. >>>Keep cleaning and hoovering, change bag frequently and keep hoover outside if possible. Some found medications helpful - some developed or had pre-existing Lyme Disease (I did and many others) and now are working on those issues almost solely. >>>I'd say pray often... keep it up. Guest guest
Since they can't get to birds nest and patch roof....it might be best to move. Every time you get rid of them, they will come back from the source, their nests. I cover my floors around my bed in baking soda so they can't crawl up at night and put clean sheets from my bin on after I'm showered. Does your cat sleep in bed with you? She is probably bringing them in every night if so. Maybe sprinkle her with baking soda in the dry bath tub then carry her to the bed. I don't let my son on the floor after his nightly.bath. Straight to bed from my arms. On Dec 3, 2011 11:23 AM, " Cecilia Borg " <ceciliaborg@...> wrote: Hi, !I am sorry to hear you have got the birdmites, it´s such hell... Guest guest
Hi , So sorry you must join us like this. So many on this site are getting along much better with all the great advice. I moved and threw all my 1 year old furniture out in cluding washer, dryer and computer. Not knowing I had a fungal infection, my problems soon came back in my new place. Internal meds are helping and I spray 1 cup of Lysol complete clean per gallon of water on ceilings, rugs, walls, you name it. I even bathe in it from time to time. I think I will have to move again as I suspect an abandoned bird's nest in the sealed roof of my porch. I have found they come in and attack me in the Spring and in the Fall. At first, I thought I brought them, but this last attack showed me where they were coming from. Some have ordered the preditor mites that eat the birdmites. I believe that the temperature must be right though. Not too cold. When I move, I intend to get some and introduce them to my new place just in case. I hope your move goes well. My pet had died one year before this happened to me, so I did not have to worry about her. I can't imagine watching your baby suffer. Guest guest
-I did not get rid of my belongings. They eventually died. Was it easier at the new residence? I don't know, they were still there for a full year. Then I moved again because I was too sick to take care of myself anymore. They moved with me a second time. I treated Lyme and other chronic infections and things resolved. I do not do the crazy cleaning anymore and I can wear all my clothing without any problems. Now I am still treating my infections, but getting better. Most cats carry Bartonella which will take down your immune system, it usually is present with Lyme. There are a couple good Lyme literate doctors that know how to diagnose and treat all these infections in the UK, I don't know their names, but if you go to 's Eurolyme they can direct you. > >Aandraya > > >On Dec 2, 2011, at 4:50 PM, christine french wrote: > >> Dear all >> Im new to the site ,hello and sorry we all have to be here!:-( >> Though good theres a site to help each other!:-) >> I need some help! >> Live on my own with my wee old ill cat n have rented here three years n loved it until my problems started in july >> My cat an indoor cat but caught fleas somehow in july >> The flat got infested >> >> Spent six weeks exhaustin myself tryin enviromentaly safe ways to get rid fleas,as well as gve cat program to sterilize fleas >> I was bitten, used salt, bicarb soda, steamer, enviromental friendly flea spray, diatemeous earth then two lots spray oct n nov of permethrin with igr in it >> The spray help a bit fleas nearly away >> But had said for months as well as what looked like fleas were tiny black dots >> >> All footwear infested >> Crawlin sensation clothes >> Permethrin shoes several times still bad bitten >> Pinprick bites >> Afectin my mental health now went on too long >> Hooverin like mad lady >> Washed all clothes 60 degree, have no dryer but still. Guest guest
Funny, Lyme sympoms typically flare in spring and fall too. Remember bees >>going through colony collapse syndrome? I think it is being caused by something, may be mite, might be something else that is killing certain things off. >>> >>> >>>All the products you mentioned I used. This starts to kill fungus and other microbes in the body. >>> >>> >>>Keep cleaning and hoovering, change bag frequently and keep hoover outside if possible. Some found medications helpful - some developed or had pre-existing Lyme Disease (I did and many others) and now are working on those issues almost solely. >>> >>> >>>I'd say pray often... Keep sharing and others will help you sort routines out. >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> overwhelmed and terribly depressed >>> >>>Dear all >>>Im new to the site ,hello and sorry we all have to be here!:-( >>>Though good theres a site to help each other!:-) >>>I need some help! >>>Live on my own with my wee old ill cat n have rented here three years n loved it until my problems started in july >>>My cat an indoor cat but caught fleas somehow in july >>>The flat got infested >>> >>>Spent six weeks exhaustin myself tryin enviromentaly safe ways to get rid fleas,as well as gve cat program to sterilize fleas >>>I was bitten, used salt, bicarb soda, steamer, enviromental friendly flea spray, diatemeous earth then two lots spray oct n nov of permethrin with igr in it >>>The spray help a bit fleas nearly away >>>But had said for months as well as what looked like fleas were tiny black dots >>> >>>All footwear infested >>>Crawlin sensation clothes >>>Permethrin shoes several times still bad bitten >>>Pinprick bites >>>Afectin my mental health now went on too long >>>Hooverin like mad lady >>>Washed all clothes 60 degree, have no dryer but still.
