Guest guest
Your husband most likely does not have systemic fungal issues going on. Even Krys, who is a birdmite researcher, has handled mites and no problems... I know for certain he has a healthy diet! So again the attraction is an issue. Don't ask me why so many more women get this, but it could be because 1) we are home more and 2) we are cooking for family and 3) hormones may play a part too. From: "Linds J" <lj_mom11@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, November 18, 2011 11:42:15 AMSubject: Re: scared - For Linds - be cautious not scared No, but it makes sense being that my husband took a dead bird out of a nest about the time I started itching. I would not move or throw anything else away either. If you are frightened of sitting on something, cover it with plastic for yourself temporarily, even if the rest of the furniture is not covered. See I've had a food addiction, particularly sugar for most of my adult life, and I believe these organisms are attracted to carbos, wheat, sugar, honey, anything like that. Change the diet (at least for yourself). Take probiotics, especially when on antibiotics! A must. It helps but if symptoms are clearing things might be better for good. The point of going to an LLMD is because most of us have Lyme Disease. They are the only ones that understand how to diagnose it. Or you have fungus or mold issues...or a chronic underlying infection (co-infection) of some sort. That is why you should research lyme to determine if you have any symptoms and bring the list to the appointment. Try to keep emotion out of it and present the facts. Tell the llmd about the yeast overgrowth, and bring all recent tests, etc..from other doctors. The idea is that the LLMD should know how to treat whatever is going on with you internally...then they won't be attracted to you anymore. In the meantime, try to limit your kids' sugar\processed food intake. These are things that could attract the bugs to them if they leave you. Just continue to clean and wash and they should be out of the environment. On Nov 18, 2011 2:27 PM, "Linds J" <lj_mom11@...> wrote: Thanks, . I am driving over 500 miles to get there. Guest guest
I didn't know Krys was a birdmite researcher. Does he study how they affect humans? I found an article on a woman quarantined in New York because she was covered in birdmites. An entomologist at the State of Washington was mentioned in the article. He said humans can play hosts to birdmites. The woman stated she had them going in her eyes, nose, mouth and "other places". I picked up the phone and called that entomolgist and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I scanned the article and emailed it to him. He said it was rare and not likely as if he never said any of it. Guest guest
Elissa- I think it really helps that you have the support of your husband. As you know, I do not. I feel lost and alone. Although, it does help with the support from all of you whom I don't even know. I can't help but think about it. My nieces and nephews want to come to my house and want me to take them places as I have always done and I have to tell them no. My son wants to have sleep overs and I have to tell him no. It just breaks my heart that my kids can't have a normal life and its all left up to me to try to fix it. Most of the success stories on here are of just one individual who succeeded. I'm not sure of a whole family winning the battle. I believe you have your LLMD appt. around the same time as me. Mine is on Dec. 1st. I will be at the appt. on my own but at least he agreed to travel with me. He can't sit in with me with kids. It wouldn't work. Guest guest
Yes, Krys is a researcher. It is not well known among professionals that birdmites infest human beings, but it is becoming more common. I remember that article you are talking about. I think that woman was isolated at the hospital too. On some level the doctors must know the problem. Even when I went to see my doctor the first few times she would not touch me and stood 5 feet away from me, dermatologist too. From: "Linds J" <lj_mom11@...>bird mites Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2011 7:22:38 AMSubject: Re: scared - For Linds - be cautious not scared I didn't know Krys was a birdmite researcher. Guest guest
Aggi-To this day I do not know what was making those lintballs! Do mites make them? My boyfriend of two years is a truckdriver and was not around for a lot of the nightmare- which was a very good thing. He was very patient about all my neurosis though. Maybe because he had a life changing traumatic event- he was a police officer and shot in the knee which left him with permanent damage, disabled and chronic pain syndrome- people don't believe he has pain... I don't think anyone else would have stuck around through that hell. Guest guest
Gosh Aandraya, you two have been through a lot and that probably really helps the relationship. I was also lucky in the fact that my boyfriend was working away during the week. It was strange, because on one hand I was sort of glad when he left on a Monday morning, on the other hand I was terryfied being left alone with the mites. Guest guest
He wasn't really interested in my condition. I think the first time he was shocked was when the mites did have a Go at him. That was coming home after our 10 days trip to the UK. He did not say much, but I could tell from the expression on his face that he was really concerned. Well, it's been a one time incident only and he seemed to believe me more afterwards. Our relationship was seriously stressed for a while. This group really helped me not vent to him all of the time and ultimately, he saw what a serious problem this is all around the U.S. and world. I definitely feel that finding this group saved me and my marriage...this is an internal issue...clean the envirinment but dealing with the infections etc...is so important. Aggi, was your bf shocked at first when he realized so many others are affected? On Nov 19, 2011 10:12 PM, "Aggi Assmann" <aggi_assmann@...> wrote: Me too, Elissa ! Guest guest
About the lint balls, I really haven't got a clue. I know I had birdmites, but no lint balls. A friend of mine she had rhodent mites and no lint balls either. I was also lucky in the fact that my boyfriend was working away during the week. It was strange, because on one hand I was sort of glad when he left on a Monday morning, on the other hand I was terryfied being left alone with the mites. At least you got support of your parents/ That is one good thing. How did/does your partner cope with the whole subject. At one point I thought I had lost my relationship my job and my home. It turned out I did not :-) Von: Aandraya <aandraya@...>An: "bird mites " <bird mites > Gesendet: 3:45 Sonntag, 20.November 2011Betreff: Re: scared - For Linds - be cautious not scared Aggi- Well, they appeared mysteriously overnight when I slept with light blue sheets and a white cotton blanket over them, white lint balls were covering the blue sheets in the morning. And it took multiple washes to get them off the sheets. They stick like glue. I have samples of all the stuff I found on and around me in little baggies inside a metal box. I found the birdmite group after the fact and I've read some of the stories to my parents so they see it wasn't just me. I showed those to my mom and she saw what was going on! Aandraya On Nov 19, 2011, at 8:07 PM, Aggi Assmann <aggi_assmann@...> wrote: I did not get any support of my partner either. Good luck with your appt. and I'll be interested as to what you come up with. Sad, but I've stopped talking about it except on this site and to people who understand. I don't try to make people understand, either. It just gets me upset when they act like I'm crazy. I know I'm not... They either get it or don't...who's to blame them...this is the stuff they make nightmares out of... Personally, I try not to think about things too much. This especially works when my symptoms are not that bad. I just keep up my rituals and know I'm doing the best I can...and that my appointment is right around the corner. My husband, although he never got bitten, felt crawlies. He's a scientist so I didn't think he'd be as supportive, but it helps that I match with the great majority of lyme symptoms (which helps give him a rationale for this infestation on me) & also he witnessed the black stick-like things crawl out of and back in my skin! Just about blew his mind! I hope your LLMD appointment goes well! It is good your family is going with you. Maybe this will help your husband understand. What state is your doctor in...? I found an article on a woman quarantined in New York because she was covered in birdmites. An entomologist at the State of Washington was mentioned in the article. He said humans can play hosts to birdmites. The woman stated she had them going in her eyes, nose, mouth and "other places". I picked up the phone and called that entomolgist and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I scanned the article and emailed it to him. He said it was rare and not likely as if he never said any of it.
