Guest guest
Hi All, I as positive now that we got an infection from mite bites which caused mites every where to be attracted to us: crawling mites and biting mites too. Is that what MORGELLONS is??? After our 2 1/2 year mite-mare we are now well again and have our lives back. I still am still EXTREMELY traumatized by the experience. I would like to go see a therapist for PTS, but I fear the therapist would just assume I had 'delusions of parasitosis' since not many people know of this disease which is transmitted by certain biting mites which carry the pathogen. In fact, I think that I may be one of the only people to know of this disease... along with a few others on this website who have had a similar experience. Fortunately most people who are infested by bird mites just eradicate the mites from their environment and never get any pathogen from the mites at all and therefore don't become a host for biting mites everywhere. We will never know if it was just the passage of time that allowed us a fight whatever disease was attracting mites everywhere to us or if it was the 3 months of doxycycline 3 times per day , alternated with 3 months of Bactrm DS 2 times per day. We no longer avoid places and things and are using the stuff from our garage again... just cleaning it as well as we can. However, I went to a movie last week at a theatre that used to cause me to itch and squirm in my seat as I tried to focus on the movie. I felt a tiny bit of crawling sensation during the movie, but got NO bites and and the crawling stopped completely when I left the theatre. That is the only place I have had any symptoms at all out of the 100's of places that did cause crawling and bites when I was infected. There are certain places in the hospital that I work that I've not been in for the past 6 months, which used to cause me irritation and bites. So I don't know about how those places would affect me now. And I have not been in a Prius car in about 6 months as we sold it... which was the other place I got bit the most. The other cars are fine, our home is fine, our clothes are fine, my office at work is fine, museums are fine. I am so relieved and I'm trying to get my life back and move on. It is difficult for me to get over the feeling of trauma from living with FEAR for so long. Perhaps on some level I'm still in fear that the symptoms and bites will return again. I know I could not handle it if the biting returned. It is a thought too overwhelming to contemplate, MY ADVICE: Get on antibiotics early on, in large doses and stay on them until you are positive the biting and symptoms will not return when you go off of them. I know that the symptoms stopped for Rita and Tom after ~2 1/2 years so maybe the disease only lasts a certain amount of time as your body fights it. They did not take antibiotics at all. So who knows... In the final stages of our fight against the disease, topical benzyl peroxide cream helped kill any lingering organisms in or on our skin. SO I suggest using it liberally on any irritated shin as needed. We also use white vinegar alternated with hydrogen peroxide to kill off the most difficult organisms from lesions that seemed to be impossible to get rid of any other way. Good luck and BEST WISHES to all!
