When I need documents out of storage, I scan them with my wand. I found it in a catalog on the plane when I was on a business trip. It is an ultra-violet wand and I slowly move it across the area - I think it kills everything. That's what I do when I can't apply liquid poisons.

Hi Cecilia,

It was very brave of you to give up all of your belongings from storage. Could your paperwork be scanned at a library & stored on a CD?

I think the eggs must either hatch in a given time, or lie dormant until triggered to hatch by certain stimuli.

I think it is the former because in The effect of B. bassiana on behaviour and reproduction ofthe poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae and the attractivity of a synthetical chicken odour mix

http://edepot.wur.nl/140046

They state that the eggs hatch in 2-3 days (quite an interesting paper, using a type of fungus to kill the mites)

It is curious how the mites are able to survive for many months or perhaps go dormant, in the absence of a host. I wonder what happens...According to that paper, when they have a host, their average life cycle is 20 days......wish they died a bit faster without a host

Is the staph infection Staphylococcus aureus? I assume you've tried Tea Tree Oil (TTO); the most recent studies seem to suggest TTO will at least help, if not cure Staph infections.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21564552

I hope the staph can be controlled soon.

All the best

THe work you need to do is tremendous, and it feels like it never ends, I guess that´s one big reason we decided to get rid of everything, cause we just couldn´t cope with all that - we were totally exhausted, trying to do that, work and taking care of kids at the same time.

THe Staph infection is external, so at least better that I guess, thanks for asking.

Hi Cecilia,Thanks for your advice & kind thoughts. I'll pass it along to my mother. I am pretty sure she intends leaving all big things behind, such as beds, sofas etc. I think she has her clothes, bedding etc. in plastic holders. I'll speak to her about what she intends to do regarding other things. maybe storage will be an option. My huge case of photos of my children growing up is still at her house; I'd hate to lose that. I forgot to bring it back last time I was over. But what are possessions in the end? We left loads of stuff behind when we moved overseas, forgot some stuff, & more vanished itself between UK & US, but really when I consider the amount of "stuff" we collected over time, it is surprising how little we really miss it. I can imagine the horror of the mites would stick in ones mind for a good while. I know some days my mother talks of nothing else; telling me of what she did & when & how. I can

understand she needs to do that; it must be such so horrific that ones life becomes centred around cleaning, cleaning, cleaning trying to get one step ahead. I hope you can get rid of the staph infection. Is it external or internal? All the best, & thanks for being so kind & caring. Krys

We are doing quite well, only fighting the staph-infection on the skin, probably left from the mites. My mind is still affected by everything that happened and I guess it will be a long time (if ever) til I´m "normal" again.

Hi Aggi,

Good idea putting the files in front of the cartridges. Good luck with persuading the cleaner not to vacuum your office. Maybe you could tell the cleaners you've put down "something" which will help with your (mite) allergies as, I think, suggested. It sounds plausible & it's not a lie.

I don't know whether my mum will try the predators. Formerly, unlike me, she was a very athletic person & very fit for her age, but this horrible affliction has really got her down. I sent her the links but I'm not sure she could have them down long enough to work, in the house, before starting to spray & vacuum everything. I think she may get them for the car. I know it sounds odd but I think moving may be the best option.

Good luck with your office; I hope it is the final stage in getting rid of the nasty little blighters.

All the best,

Krys

Doris, Could you use the wand to scan parts of your body that feel infected or something like furniture, etc.? I think I read that an IR light will kill mites, but can't find that right now. Thanks.
