No, had never heard of it, but it is sure worth a try. Would you use it all over the environment? It is pretty expensive to do the entire house. I just looked it up and read a little about it briefly. Did you say you tried ammonia water or Windex already? Have you already used a garden sprayer and sprayed all over, walls, ceilings, bed, everywhere? How long have you had mites? From: "Leigh" <leigh_anderton@...>bird mites Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2011 3:18:51 PMSubject: Steri-fab

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone has used Steri-fab with good results? I am thinking of trying this product next. I have tried everything else! Thanks for any advice.

I think you are supposed to spray everything, walls and all. I have tried

ammonia in my laundry, didn't work. I have sprayed windex, also didn't work. I

have had these cooties for over 3 years now. I have moved 4 times. Still have

them.:(

OMG Leigh, I'm so sorry to hear it. Are you still able to work? We sprayed maybe 3-4 times the entire inner part of our house with Windex and/or ammonia water (3 parts water to 1 part janitorial ammonia). Did you get rid of everything when you moved? I know Doris and Cecilia moved too, and Aandraya too, and others. We didn't, but we did seem to get rid of the mites after all the spraying and doing our clothing for a year with the steam press, using Arm and Hammer, Borax and ammonia in every wash and also using the steam press. A good combination. Clothing has not been an issue for at least 2 years now. Nor bedding, but I replaced everything at least once including most furniture. Floors were ripped out downstairs too, lived on cement floors for a year - downstairs only. Floors upstairs were refinished (wood) and new polyurethane put down. I get an occasional bite, but nothing major any more. What I'm left with are the infections that Aandraya speaks about--that were most likely pre-existing. I still have fibers too. Very little crawling any more. We did major antibiotics and also herbals for maybe a 2 year period. Recently took Doxy again and trying to recover still from that. Let us know if there is anything else we can do. 4 years is a long time. Here's Kajay's protocol again. I think a lot of it looks really good. Can you let us know what you are currently doing and what you have tried?Would you consider using the predator mites that Aggi used? She had 100% success in her car... needs to be the right temperature in the house to really work, but I'd do that if we needed it. From Kajay:I know most of you have seen this ad nauseum, forgive me if I repeat it for the newbies. Guys, this combination of protocols has allowed me to move on with my life while at the same time fighting the critters. is what gave me an immediate quality of life that I had lost during my first horrific years with the critters. LIFE CYCLE SPRAY - Another thing, this is a life cycle remedy. It will not eradicate your entire environmental population all at once. You will experience a gradual lessening in the intensity of environmental attacks over the 8 to 12 weeks after you spray. GRADUAL RELIEF - You might not even realize that it is this doing the trick - unless you stop. I do this on the fourth of July and Christmas - only. It lasts about 8 months. If I forget and haven't sprayed, I start getting hit after the 8th month.SHED CRITTER BITES - This will not keep you from being bitten by fresh "sheds" from your body. It will, however, considerably reduce the stress of fighting the critters in your home. To protect myself from "shed" biting at home, I wear long pants tucked into rubber boots from Walmart (the new loungewear, lol!) and when I handle anything I suspect may be contaminated, I wear vinyl disposable gloves that protect and throw off my scent. And I always wear gloves when typing at home - I have them on now. PETS - If your pets chew their bedding, you might not want to spray their bedding. Others on this forum have advice on what to spray around pet bedding. If you DO use this, then substitute Fooey or some other bitter pet deterrent for the water - you can buy Fooey by the gallon. Use the whole thing instead of water if you go this route. You want to keep them from ingesting the spray. BEDDING - I tried everything that people on these forums have tried. Over time, my back demanded that I give it a little more respect. Now I sleep on a twin size platform bed with large casters in case I ever decide to roll it out of the sea of diatomaceous earth in which it resides. My multilayer, customizable firmness latex mattress(es) is covered with a memory foam topper - 12 inches of relief for my back in all - and with a bedbug zippered cover over the whole thing. Over that I have a vellux blanket, with a memory foam neck support pillow under it at the head of the bed. I keep the vellux blanket covered in a thick layer of powder (borax, epsom salts, diatomaceous earth) and cover that with two disposable sheets (for bottom sheet) and one for a top sheet. Talk about saving my back.COMPUTER - I use a steak knife to push a disinfectant wipe between the keys and as stated elsewhere in this post, wear vinyl disposable gloves whenever I am on the computer.MY ENVIRO SPRAY* Half fill a gallon sprayer with hot water.* Dump in a half cup of boric acid * Stir with a long-handled utensil that you never use with food* Add any IGR (insect growth regulator) concentrate, in the quantity specified for a gallon of spray* Add some kind of knockdown** Fill up the gallon sprayer* Stir everything* The knockdown can be Tweetmint or Dawn or Simple Green or Orange Plus- anythinglike that. Which doesn't matter. The only job the sprayer was to tak, the knockdown is just to keep you from being bitten when you are spraying.1. PROTECT YOURSELF FIRST. Spray your legs and feet. Ideally, wear rubber boots. Saturate your shoes, whatever you are wearing, and spray your socks well too.2. HEAD EM OFF AT THE PASS. Spray a circle around every place the critters will run when you start spraying, such as* Legs of furniture, starting with bed and chairs where you sit* Drawers containing clothing* Any pictures left on the walls* All the way around each door and window (not the floor, we're getting to that later)* Electrical outlets* Ceiling fan escutcheons3. SPRAY THE WALLS. It is a misconception that you have to spray the whole wall. If you do, whatever is on it will have no choice but to immediately find and climb on you! You do not want to be the only place they can escape. You have to leave them that. What they don't know is that when the spray dries and they try to go in any direction, they must cross the boric acid and IGR somewhere. And that's the trick. Start by sprayinga THIN, LIGHT continuous stripe on or just above the floor molding. If you can't get to the wall all the way around a room, spray around the obstacle. Now repeat just below the ceiling, all the way around. Now fill in between the stripes with a large (1 to 2 foot diamonds or squares) lazy grid. It need not be perfect. Try not to leave any gaps. 4. SPRAY THE CEILINGS. Spray more lazy large grids on the ceilings. 5. SPRAY SOFT AND POROUS SURFACES. Furniture cushionsStucco wallsPet bedding if you decide to do it (see note above for warnings)NOTE: NEVER spray this on a small child's stuffed toys.Good luck, you will beat this. It isn't easy, cheap, fast, or fun, but you can do it.KajayFrom: "Leigh" <leigh_anderton@...>bird mites Sent: Thursday, September 1, 2011 4:46:59 PMSubject: Re: Steri-fab

My apology Leigh... you said 3 years, not 4! L.From: Goldstein@...To: bird mites Sent: Thursday, September 1, 2011 5:14:36 PMSubject: Re: Re: Steri-fab
