Guest guest
Aggi,I am so sorry for you as a friend of Ben... it is still difficult to accept when someone passes, but especially when they pass unexpectedly. It is shocking the way that happened. To tell you the truth, it is almost never quickly accepted and we all go through the stages of grieving in one way or another. I am glad you are trying to consciously live one day at a time, for in truth, that is the only way we can live, but to be conscious of it is another thing . My brother's death in the end of March was a wake up call for me too as I am not in good health. My husband's dad died in the end of July, but he was 95. We just had his memorial this week-end. Had his family here for 5 days straight and had after memorial luncheon which turned into dinner too for 20+ people. I would do it again because death is one of the most important times for family and friends to bond. You remember significant times like deaths, but we don't remember most day to day stuff. From: "Aggi" <aggi_assmann@...>bird mites Sent: Tuesday, September 6, 2011 11:39:46 AMSubject: Live for the day ! Hi guys, Just wanted to tell you that we buried one of our best and oldest friends last week. Ben was getting up in the morning, claiming that he was not "feeling well". His wife called the ambulance to get him checked. One hour later, when Carla arrived at the hospital, Ben had already died from an internal bleeding. He was only 56 ! It was such a shock for everybody, because there were no signs of any health problem. It just happened totally unexpected. I am very sad and feeling so sorry for his widow. They have been married for 30 odd years and I am not sure if she will ever get over this trauma. Things like that make you aware, how quick life can be over. A life we are taking for granted every morning we do wake up. I am really trying to enjoy my life as much as possible and live for the day now, because there might be no tomorrow. Ben, love and miss you, you will always be in my heart !
Guest guest
Dear Aggi,How terribly sad, especially sad for his wife. I had something similar last year. My second son phoned (which he rarely ever does) & left a message to phone him as it was important. I phoned him back expecting him to say something such as getting married or something important but not devastating. Instead he told me, a close friend was dead, he had been found by his children (10 & 12) who were going to stay with him for the weekend. He was only early 40s; the whole thing was completely shocking, mind numbing.
