Is it connected to AI's then? Guest guest
Hi a; I'm no help. I get a rash under the skin that itches terribly and attacks areas that are thin skinned first as the back of hands and around nails and anywhere I may have an injury but this has usually come because of an allergy to the sun. I'm sorry I can't be more help there. I am glad your doctor is checking about the body temp problem. Let us know if you find any answers. I hope you have a nice day, Patty Rash Have any of you ever gotten the rash on your palms? At the onset I had the rash on my hands and knees but now I have these small red bumps on my palms and just one small bump on my hand and one on my knee. I just came from my Dr. (not Rheumy, just reg. Dr.) and he has no idea what it could be. They tend to itch after washing my hands. I also mentioned to him about how I am always hot. I sweat profusely daily. My co-workers wear their jackets around the office and complain that it's cold in here. Even the President of the company complains about how probably the reason we got the place so cheap is because the office is so cold. Everyone complains about the cold office, but I am always sweating and have to have my fan on. I even keep spare blouses at work because sometimes I'll be so hot and sweaty I'll need to change clothes. No odor, just wet. Anyway, the Dr. collected blood to run some thyroid test to see if that's the problem. He said it would take about a week for the test to come back. a , Administrative Assistant Faribault Foods, Inc. 3380 Piper Jaffray Tower 222 South 9th Street Minneapolis, MN 55402 Tele: 612-333-6461 Fax: 612-342-2908

Guest guest
Hi joyce, I have had the stills rash and it doesn't ever itch. it should never itch. The only time i have ever developed an itchy rash was because I was allergic to the medication I was on. Prednisone is a nasty medication and although it has been a life saver for me some days i try to take as little of it as possible. I would deffinatly mention to your doc that it could be an allergic reaction. I have found that since my onset I have been allergic to many more things than I have ever been allergic to before. This is also true with many people I have talked to. Guest guest
Hi . Welcome to the group. I'm sorry for your diagnosis of Stills but, you have found a group of the nicest, kindest and most sincere people you will ever meet. And the knowledge that everyone has about Stills, medications, doctors, and even other subjects (hee-hee), you're going to think you've joined a graduate school study group. :-) I wanted to comment on your statement about Prednisone being a nasty drug yet a life saver. One of the hardest things to deal with is the love/hate relationship we have with Prednisone. It allows us to live semi-normal lives however, it makes such dramatic changes to our body, physically & emotionally. And to wein off of it has been a big challenge to so many of us. Please know that we are all here for you. Including your newest best friend/biggest enemy, Prednisone. Take good care of yourself and REST when it is required. Guest guest
Kaitlyn also had chicken pox vac. She just got over one the worst cases of chicken pox Ive seen. Hundreds of spots, everywhere. I kept telling myself it cannot be chicken pox, but I was wrong. Good luck. Darcy Rash Hi all, My who is almost 3 has devoloped a rash . It began like prickly heat with small pin point bumps ( Saturday night) and is now blistering. It is on his legs and feet which are swollen. Today it is on his arms ans diaper area. Guest guest
My nephew (now 26) did not have chicken pox vaccination but he did get chicken pox TWICE!!! The first time it was so mild they were never quite sure but the second time it was most definitely chicken pox! I have heard of kids who had the vaccination also getting chicken pox afterwards. Guest guest
The vaccine doesn't keep them from getting chicken pox, but it supposed to make it less severe if they do get it so it may actually be " the pox " . Or fifths disease. Try Mylanta on the rash and see if it helps -- sounds weird, I know, but it does help. One of my kid's had a teacher whose daughter kept getting chicken pox over and over after the vaccine (incomplete innoculation). In ANY case... whatever it is (could be a disease... could be an allergic reaction)... sounds like a trip to the MD is in immediate order. - Becky

Her daughter kept getting a light case of chicken pox, over and over and over. If you get chicken pox and only get a light case, you don't develop the immunity and can catch it again. My 3 kids took turns (one after the other!) back when my middle child brought it home from pre-school 7 years ago. All 3 had pretty intense cases. 2 kids have a couple of pox scars. The one who doesn't is my daughter with DS - who had an ear/sinus infection at the same time and was on antibiotics for that. BTW - chicken pox and " shingles " are caused by the same disease (actually a herpes). After a person has chicken pox, the herpes virus lies dormant and can pop back up as shingles many years later (like 40!). No evidence yet whether the vaccine will prevent shingles. All in all - I'm just as glad my kids actually had chicken pox. It was a miserable couple of weeks... but no danger they will get it again, or need to re-innoculate. - Becky

Guest guest
a, they used to have a clear jell out that had benzocaine in it. It would numb the area. I used it for my daughter for years. Guest guest
Hi Patti, Yes, I had a biopsy done on my rash, I'd say about ten years ago by my Dermatologist. He said it was " Transient " something or another. He said truck drivers get it on their upper legs and buttocks from sitting so much and sweating there. It made sense at the time regarding them but the biopsy was done on my arm so that part did not make sense to me. I think that he, along with all my other doctors, grabbed at straws. It was hard getting a biopsy as my rash would only come out around five or so and he was never in his office that late. I offered to come to his house to show him but he gave me one of those " I'll just play along " looks and didn't invite me, so I never did. The biopsy he did must have been a lingering rash from the previous night. I wish he was still practicing here or even living here now as I would tell him a thing or two and ask him what lab gave him that info. That's an interesting question about having the rash biopsied. I wonder if anyone here has? I know my husband video taped my rash and I took it to show to some doctor, who I can't remember, and he was not impressed as far as a diagnosis from it. It's one of those things that if I could remember the doctor, I'd go there and tell him that if he ever sees a rash like that again, consider Stills.!!! ) My rashes never itched. Do yours? I don't remember what you said about being diagnosed. Was it quick and easy? Thank goodness for Mayo Clinic! I'll be interested to know if any other of us Stilligans' have been biopsied. Take care. Until I took prednisone, my rash came and went like clockwork: It was pretty much gone in AM, and got worse as the day wore on. My doctor appointments were always in early afternoon, when the rash was usually just mild, instead of severe and systemic, like it got by bedtime. I never did show up at his door. But they put me in the hospital so they could observe the rash cycle, among other more serious things. -Brent Re: rash Hi Patti, Yes, I had a biopsy done on my rash, I'd say about ten years ago by my Dermatologist. Guest guest
Hi Patti, Yes, when I was initially in the hospital (right before my diagnosis w/ Stills), an infectious disease doctor was called in and he did a biopsy on my inner thigh (where the rash was the worst at the time). As expected, the biopsy was " normal " . I wasn't put on any additional meds for this rash though. Is your doc. thinking of putting you on a med for this? Chris NY greywolf70@... Guest guest
I made a salve that had cocoa butter, kokum butter, lanolin, vit. E, almond oil and EOs of tea tree and lavendar. I gave some to my sister. She had a car wreck and " burned " her hand from the air bag. She used it a couple of days and really liked it. After using it a couple times a day for several days, she started to develop a rash. The EO are very diluted, but many of you talk about sensitivity. I couldn't think of anything in the salve that would cause a reaction. Any ideas. Also, I made a wonderful lotion for home use. It has aloe juice, but no water. I am paranoid using it because I didn't put a preservative in it. What would be the " healthiest " preservative to use for a lotion and how long could I keep it. Thanks in advance. One day when I learn more in this field, I will hopefully be able to give back to the group. Lori
