3. Exceptions.(a) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to: (1) persons enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on or before the effective date of this Act; (2) persons enrolled less than half-time during a term or semester; or (3) persons whose instruction solely involves research, field work or study outside of a classroom environment.(B) No proof of immunization shall be required if a physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches certifies that any immunization required by the Department is medically contraindicated.© No proof of immunization shall be required if the person or his or her parent or guardian presents a signed statement that he or she objects to immunizations on religious grounds.(d) The certificate of medical exemption or statement of religious objection required by this Section shall be presented to the post-secondary educational institution.

(Source: P.A. 85-1315; 86-1406.)Looks like the nurse is overreaching her authority. No note is required from her paediatrician; just a signed statement from you, not even notarized. Tell her, and read her the law, out loud, in front of other like minded parents and let her know she is wrong. It is about time we gang up on them. I have endured a lifetime of doctors lining up to tell me I am wrong - our turn! I was wondering if you can inform me where I can get my hands on a religious exemption form for Illinois. My daughter is enrolled in public school preschool b/c she receives OT and ST services. The school nurse is hounding me for additional justification in addition to the note from her pediatrician. Thank you.

Illinois is tricky - you have to write it - I'll send info and

contact people for you who can help. Don't try to do this on your

own and DO NOT need a note from pediatrician regarding exemption
