Thanks for the thoughts. I assume any time my child is going to the ER, they

would call me right away anyway, but I did add that to my stipulations. We've

never been to the ER with him yet, so hoping and praying our good fortune

continues and it won't be an issue!

I always write on the side of the paragraph, with a line and arrow to the end of the sentence in question, NO VACCINES ARE TO BE GIVEN, NOT EVEN TETANUS. Then I initial it. It's never been questioned.

It was last fall. I don't know what they do with it. I thought they just used it to keep on file to show they tried to get me to do it. They also weren't exactly forthcoming with it until I put my foot down and told them it doesn't matter right now because the dog is sickand she's not getting any vaccine today. Then they whipped out the form and said, well you can sign a waiver for it. I don't love this vet and don't recommend them. I only go because they're close!

I found some exemption info for CT: (http://www.cga.ct.gov/2006/ACT/PA/2006PA-00105-R00SB-00411-PA.htm). Section 2-b states a vet can determine the animal would be endangered by the vaccine, but they have to jump through hoops asking the state to approve it. Every year. But it's something. I wish they had this law back in 1994 when my other dog had cancer. The rabies vaccine did her in.

Thanks for the info, ladies

I'm sorry about your other dog, Winnie. I think it's criminal that these vets

don't know about the dangers of vaccines (same goes for human docs). I know

vaccines caused the health issues my last 2 dogs had. Thankfully, one of the

other vets in my practice didn't vaccinate my one dog when she was already sick,

but I can't remember if that included rabies or not.

That's my understanding of the exemption as well, that it's difficult to get.

May not even be worth the attempt for me, because if it gets denied (which I'm

assuming they can do), I won't get another rabies shot for my dog anyway.

I don't think it's a good idea to have your name given to the state vet anyway!
