Just got the survey call from the CDC and “under four year olds on their recommended immunizations” (gag) First question: are there any 4 year olds and was I over the age of 17 and could answer about any four or under status on all their recommended immunizations So I young’d my voice and said “no, I’m the baby sitter” LOL…. And said “thank you” and hung up and went to my ooma log and blocked their call. Guest guest
Winnie, I went to this website and read a lot of the complaints people had about receiving these calls, and one of the people paid to do a reverse phone search on the number and found out all this info. about the company. It had their website, and on the site it had a list of surveys they are currently doing, and here's the page about the immunization one: http://www.norc.org/Research/Projects/Pages/national-immunization-survey.aspx It says they are collecting the info. for the CDC. This whole thing really worries me, because my biggest fear is that the government is slowly moving towards forcing everyone to get immunized regardless of whether they're in school or not and I worry that they're trying to get a list of who's not immunized in preparation for that day. I think if they do make it mandatory, they'll do it very slowly and gradually, but I'm definitely planning on not answering if they call me. I don't want them to have a record of my son not being immunized and it's making me rethink the homeschooling option. Is anyone else worried about this, or do you all think that that would never happen? Didn't they force people to be immunized for certain diseases during outbreaks in the past? I thought I read that somewhere. Re: the call we've been waiting for!! IMPORTANT The babysitter--haha! You make me laugh, Nita. Guest guest
Well I received a paper from the school asking if I would allow my state to check the records of my child to make sure they were up-to-date on their immunizations. I wasn't going to turn it in, but my daughter insisted because that was what the teacher said to do. Welllllll. They have "do you consent, blah, blah..." and you are supposed to put your signature. The only thing I did was return it with "I do not consent". The teacher turned it back in to me saying I have to sign where the form had the signature under the "I do consent". I do not plan on putting my signature on the paper.... Like everyone says, NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS! I do see being forced to homeschool, but if they want everyone immunized, they will do their darnedest to make it happen.... Just really sickens me how they are really forcing this issue now.... It is like they are forcing us to revolt or something, because I think that might happen. Of course, maybe that is what they want.... or maybe they are creating this as a diversion because they are doing some other insidious thing behind our backs or to keep us focussed on this instead of something else???? I know I am very paranoid, but you have to wonder.... Thanks for the info on the phone number. Unfortunately won't do us any good now as our phone with caller id died. Hopefully we will get another soon... I do miss that feature... Guest guest
Well, not to scare you worse that you are, but they already have the legal power to vaccinate if a state of emergency is declared in many states. I'm not up on the latest but there might be exemptions or not, there might be fines for using an exemption, there might be quarantines depending on where you live. Anyway, for this survey, I think it's just a marketing gimmick. They want to get hold of people's medical records so they can determine what areas they can sell to. There is not an unending supply of vaccines, and no business wants to make more than they can sell if they have to throw out leftovers. Winnie the call we've been waiting for!! Guest guest
Funny, I thought the state always had the right to check your school records since they "own" the schools. Now they need permission? Hmm...sounds as if that's code for "We Have Something Else Up Our Sleeves." Winnie Re: Re: the call we've been waiting for!! Guest guest
It's not consent for medical procedures, though. It's consent for the state to look at the records. Since it's the state that requires the records, I find it difficult to believe they don't already have access to them. In fact, I know from a private school (maybe it's different for private?) and from someone else's experience with a daycare center that the state does come in and go through the files looking for vaccination status. So, why do they need parental permission for that? What have they been doing all these years, trusting the schools to report it and now they don't trust them any more? Something doesn't make sense. Perhaps a signed form gives them permission to do something else? I would just put a big red X over the whole paper and write in bold, red caps that I do not give permission. Then hand it in to the office. The teacher should have nothing to do with this. Winnie Re: the call we've been waiting for!! Guest guest
They used to spank children in school 100 years ago too and yet I'd win a HEFTY lawsuit if a teacher so much as laid a hand on my child in NYS nowadays. I know that other states have different rules so you need to know **your state's laws**. No one is claiming that the school personnel are perfect and follow the letter of their law, but knowing where you stand legally is the starting point of having a meaningful discussion with your school district about where their rights end off and your ultimate parental authority begins. At the moment, in NY, the school's rights end at the child's body/skin and no one is allowed to touch them or administer anything, including vaccines and any kind of physical evaluation above the normal educational academics, without parental consent (commonly for Special Education evals and routine nurse administered eye and ear checks). And when doing any kind of bodily evaluation such as by a Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist, then the child's pediatrician must sign a Prescription to give authority to the school to conduct the evaluation on your child, it's not just even from the parent, it must be from the parent AND the pediatrician. So, frankly, I have no idea what you're talking about in the here and now. - Arlynn > > > > > > Winnie, I went to this website and read a lot of the complaints people had about receiving these calls, and one of the people paid to do a reverse phone search on the number and found out all this info. about the company. Guest guest
I think the vaccination records are known by the government regardless if they are in school or homeschooled. I have a 1 year old and just turned 4 year old. Neither are in school. Since birth, I receive from the county we live in their vaccination records every few months and which vaccines I need to get them up to date on (they haven't received anything yet). It's annoying to get this letter in the mail every few months. Vaccinations From: abfab@...Date: Tue, 18 Oct 2011 01:34:03 +0000Subject: Re: the call we've been waiting for!! Guest guest
Well, in the UK they get away with it all the time. Kids are allowed to consent independently of their parents even if under 16 so often the vaccine letters are sent to the kid rather than the parent and I have heard of loads of cases through my group where the school 'accidently' lost the refusal letter from the parent or 'couldn't find' the consent form saying no so they just vaccinated.Often the child has pressure put on them, everyone else is doing it so why not you? The 'green book' (doctor's vaccine book) also says attendance at school on vaccination day is considered consent to vaccinate unless there is clear indication not to and if they 'lose' the indication....well....I have a friend in the US who has exemptions and her son was put on detention and threatened with suspension if he did not agree to a H1N1 shot. He was made to go and sit outside the principal's office in disgrace because he said no, that was in Virginia in 2009, so it isn't as simple as 'they can't touch you'.When incidents like this do happen, lawyers aren't interested in suing because they won't even get involved where vaccines are concerned because vaccines are considered beneficial for the child. Jehovah's witnesses who are forcibly given blood can't often sue either.Joanna.From: abfabarlynn <abfab@...>Vaccinations Sent: Tuesday, 18 October 2011, 2:34Subject: Re: the call we've been waiting for!! Is anyone else worried about this, or do you all think that that would never happen? Didn't they force people to be immunized for certain diseases during outbreaks in the past? I thought I read that somewhere. > > >
Guest guest
It's the rare child who would refuse a request and risk humiliation. That is just awful they would do that to him BUT it's good to hear he stood up for himself. Guest guest
we had the strap in school, and that was not 100 years ago! -Kathy Re: the call we've been waiting for!! IMPORTANT They used to spank children in school 100 years ago too and yet I'd win a HEFTY lawsuit if a teacher so much as laid a hand on my child in NYS nowadays. - Arlynn> > > > > > Winnie, I went to this website and read a lot of the complaints people had about receiving these calls, and one of the people paid to do a reverse phone search on the number and found out all this info. about the company. Guest guest
We had to put on file a “don’t spank my child” form to be kept in her file. It had to be renewed each year but I started homeschooling her after kindergarten and she never went back. She started K in 98. Nita, mom to: 18, Jon 17, 14, 12, 10, Christian RIP: 7/16/03-8/22/04, 6, Isaac 3 and , born 3/1/11http://momof6.dotphoto.com for possibly current pictures and http://nitasspot.blogspot.comemail me for ideas on fundraising: nitagarner@...NitaSews on etsy.comIf you have melted chocolate on your hands, you're eating it too slowly! we had the strap in school, and that was not 100 years ago! They used to spank children in school 100 years ago too and yet I'd win a HEFTY lawsuit if a teacher so much as laid a hand on my child in NYS nowadays.
