Hello everyone,

I have been lurking in this group for a long time, and have learned a lot from

everyone sharing their thoughts on various subjects. This is my first post.

Again, it's one of those worries that we always seem to have and just couldn't

get away from. Please offer me your helpful advice!

So my 4 yr son scraped his left knee in our backyard dirt yesterday, the cut is

not big nor deep, it goes about 2 mm vertical down the skin rather then in.

There was blood coming out. I took him to the shower and wash the wound with

soap under running warm water. I then dabbed it with a cotton ball soaked with

hydrogen peroxide, and applied Redmond Clay gel over it, covered with cotton

squares taped in place. The wound still bled a little after two hours when I

removed the clay to see how it's doing. Then I left the wound uncovered while he

napped. There's that piece of cut skin still hanging on, trying to reattach and

heal. Should I bother snipping it off?

My question is, did I properly clean the wound to avoid any possible tetanus?

The dirt where he fell on I don't believe have been contaminated with animal

manure as nothing was grown over there. Though we do have chickens, they don't

range in that part of the yard. Any thoughts are appreciated, thank you!
