I know many will disagree with me, but in my never to be humble opinion, this is a natural outgrowth of the law that allows minors to get abortions without parental consent also. While I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories, this certainly challenges my stand. ~ Maureen R. An outrageous abuse of parental rights. This bill would allow children as young as 12 to consent to vaccines for sexually transmitted disease without their parents knowledge or permission!

Can you imagine? Your 13 year old can get the Gardasil shot, without your knowledge!

The committee chairman, Senator Noreen , said the bill was necessary because “a lot of kids today do not have parents that are either capable or do take good responsible care of them.â€

Every Californian parent should protest this outrageous bill, which as it stands, is most likely to become law.

They know the cat is out of the bag on the dangers of this vaccine, so they are using this back door approach. Honestly, blaming parents for being incapable or irresponsible for being aware of the controversy and refusing to subject their children to known harm.

They already can in England, and younger than 12 too, sometimes, it's called gillick competancy. But also they can refuse vaccines if their parents consented. I have helped anti-vaccine young people under 16 to legally refuse vaccines when their parents said yes. I have a page on it, on my site:

Aaargh! This is one of my pet peeves. It all comes down to this---who gets to

decide which parents are capable and caring? And by what standards? That is

the big question--who is in charge of our children?

The government officials always thinks they know best. They think I am

endangering my children because I feed them raw organic milk. They think I

don't care because I don't let my teenaged daughter get the Gardisil shot! So

is it caring to teach your child that it's okay to be sexually active? That

there's no physical/emotional/mental risk or harm done as long as you don't get

cancer from it? They can't control their own children, so they tell me I'm being

naive if I say that my daughter isn't sexually active and won't be anytime soon.

If only the government would restrict itself to the boundaries of the

Constitution and let us live our own lives.

They don't have to agree with me, and I don't have to agree with them. It's

part of freedom. If tables were turned and I got to decide which of them was

capable of feeding nourishing food to their children, who cared enough to

properly medically treat them, and who was wise enough to teach proper living,

there would certainly be different standards. But I don't have that

control--each parent does. That's why God gave children to parents, not

institutions.

The government needs to get out of the business of running people's lives.

I couldn't agree more. You expressed my own feelings so eloquently, you could

have been in my head. I remember reading Orwell's '1984' years ago and

shuddering. Shame governments seem to regard it as a handbook rather than a

warning!

Amen! We’re talking about this on FB b/c I posted that link. I am thankful too that those who think it is “irresponsible” to not vax.. aren’t in power.. b/c if I were in power, I would want to force NOT vaxxing.. tell that to them huh?! they’ll have a fit.
