Guest guest
: I'd definitely take him in to make sure it's not measles. I know there are possible complications from measles, so best to be sure. I have a great program called " Home Medical Advisor Pro " that has pictures of every disease you can think of. Some pretty graphic pictures of horrible injuries as well, I might add. The measles rash they show is very distinctive and concerning looking, large blotches that are quite angry looking and cover a large area. Plus they talk about " Koplik spots " which are small white lesions inside the cheeks that people get when they have measles. Looked pretty obvious in the picture, but I've also heard it can look like big grains of salt or white sand. Have you checked the lining of his cheeks for that? I also wanted to mention that there have been " wierd " rashes going around in different places. I remember someone on the list talking about it in their area (Indiana or Michigan maybe?) and my sister's baby had one my sister thought was chicken pox but doc thought not... come to find out there's some mysterious rash going around (central Illinois) that nobody could figure out. Never heard if they did figure it out either. Just a couple thoughts... (mom to , 3yrs old, polysaccharide antibody def)
Guest guest
, Can you e-mail me some of those pics to my aol account (dalurkes)? I have searched everywhere on the web & nowhere have I seen a picture of measles. It would be nice to have a frame of reference. I haven't looked in his cheeks. . .I read about it, but it just slipped my mind. He hates to have his mouth looked at & the only way I know he's got teeth is because he accidentally nipped me one time while nursing. (ouch!) Guest guest
There was a huge mumps outbreak last year at my uni, almost all my friends got it despite the fact they have all had MMR. I never had MMR and despite being around lots of my friends at the " contagious period " I never got mumps. The uni called us all in for booster jabs, as we were told the reason the jabs hadn't worked was because we hadn't had the booster. Lots of people I know had the booster but still went on to get mumps. Again, I didn't have the booster, and I didn't get mumps. At the time lots of unis were getting outbreaks and the line taken in the media was because MMR wasn't around when we were babies, but what wasn't reported was that we all had them in school, I distinctly remember my infant school hall being turned into a day clinic! Makes you really think. > > > In a message dated 02/04/2006 23:19:04 GMT Daylight Time, > C.Forrest@... writes: > > Just seen a news item which makes me puke. > A child has died from measles. Guest guest
Vitamin A can be toxic at these doses, so be careful. According to Dr. McC as I read the link given below: 400,000 IU using Klaire's product once a day for 2 days. 10,000 to 25,000 IU depending upon the weight of the child once a day thereafter as followup. Do not repeat 400,000 IU for at least 6 months. Guest guest
Valtrex is not designed for treating measles, but many children with high measles markers have done well with it. There are articles in the literature including work by Dr. Wakefield that confirms that measles can work synergistically with herpes strain viruses and create a higher total viral burden. It seems possible that working on one benefits the other. - Stan > > Sorry if this is a duplicated post posted at a different time. Guest guest
I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and they are both unvaccinated. I'm pretty sure that my 2 year old just got over the measles. It wasn't pleasant for him, but it wasn't that horrible either. He had about 5 days of a high fever and after his fever broke he had a bad cough/lung thing that lasted for another week. He is now fully recovered and no worse for the wear. Honestly I'm glad that he had it so now I don't have to worry about it anymore. I did not want to risk the side effects of the vaccine. Both of my children have gut dysbiosis and the live viruses in the MMR could cause problems in their gut. Not to mention the neurological side effects that I have seen many children develop as a result of the MMR. The "experts" can say what they want to about the safety of vaccines but when you see that they are not safe over and over again and you see living proof in front of you, well....I can't ignore it. Two weeks of discomfort is a lot better to me than a lifetime of trying to reverse neurological damage.CameronFrom: michimews <michimews@...>Vaccinations Sent: Saturday, July 30, 2011 11:03 PMSubject: measles My two kids, ages 1.5 and 3.5 are unvaccintated. Guest guest
Also, those who are vaccinated usually don't get diagnosed precisely because they're vaccinated. They call the symptoms something else like "hives" or "a rash" or "a viral illness." In a friend of mine's case, she knew her child had pertussis, but all the other kids in the day care had a "summer flu." Doctors are also much quicker to diagnose an unvaxed child. I've heard "well, I wouldn't normally consider it but since your child didn't get vaccinated, I think we ought to consider..." whatever disease. And don't forget the biggest reason not to vaccinate: they don't work anyway. Winnie Re: measlesVaccinations > At 09:03 PM 7/30/2011, you wrote:> >My two kids, ages 1.5 and 3.5 are unvaccintated. Guest guest
You are precisely correct. When my niece and my son had a fever with a viral rash at less than a year old, the young intern did not diagnose it as measles. Both were too young to have even had the MMR which was at 18 months at the time. Guest guest
To tell the truth, few doctors under the age of 45 know what a real case of measles looks like. They have never seen a true clinical case come in for proper diagnosis. I think your granddaughter is having an allergic reaction. The fact that her eyes are swollen shut, and a rash more like hives is indicative of a reaction. Read Dr. Mendelsohn's book How To raise A Healthy Child ... In spite of your doctor ; there is a chapter on treating measles, mumps, and rubella and identifying those diseases. Measles typically has a flat rash and the child is photo sensitive. Guest guest
Unbelievable--yet not. Unvacccinated children are treated like this to punish the parents for not allowing the doctors to make the decisions--and money--regarding vaccinations. You can look here for a description of measles (not that I trust the CDC on much) but also pictures: (http://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/overview.html) Eyes swollen shut? It sounds as if she touched her eyes with something that got on her hands. Does she have a fever, runny nose or cough? Is the rash starting at the head and spreading down? Did the doc even check inside her mouth for white spots? I would take her to the ER, tell them she's up-to-date on shots when they ask, and see what they give for a diagnosis. I bet they won't even mention measles. They will, however, likely want to give her Benadryl, so you need to decide how you'd want it treated. I'd use homeopathics, quercetin and Vit. C (and have for hives). Then I'd have my lawyer send the doctor the ER bill while I was busy finding another doctor. C (and have for hives). Then I'd have my lawyer send the doctor the ER bill while I was busy finding another doctor. Guest guest
From what you described about your child, I wonder why you don't suspect whooping cough, not measles. Measles has a distinctive rash and you didn't mention that. It's not known for having lung/cough symptoms, but maybe your child could be susceptible to that sequelae, especially if the high fever was suppressed with tylenol or motrin. Still, it could have been pertussis, rather than measles. Ruth Pearson The finest compliment I can receive is a referral. Thank you for remembering me when your friends, family, and co-workers need homeopathic care.
