My son's top four front baby teeth were removed a year later because they were abscessed. His adult teeth came in nice and straight. There is a slight unevenness in the enamel on the front tooth, which we are watching. He is now 19. This happened when he was a year old.BTW, a bit OT, but I never went to the ER with my older three children. But I was in the ER many times with my little guy. And everytime I went to the ER, I was accused of doing the injury to him. ~ Maureen R. Gradvohl ~ From: Kylie <lkylie@...>Subject: Re: I forgot again...Vaccinations Date:

It's funny you say that; I also had to demand that someone please irrigate the wound in his lower lip; they hadn't ever thought to CLEAN THE WOUND! They did some xrays after frightening us into believing that his lower mandible was broken (it wasn't). But basically they did very little for us. We are seeing an oral surgeon specialist today, to see if he can save the tooth. BTW, how did your son fare after all that? Were his adult teeth ok?

It's heartbreaking; his formerly handsome little face all swollen and his tooth broken.

At first we thought it was just a bad cut inside his mouth, (the amount of blood was crazy!) But then I saw that his upper front tooth was bent back at an unnatural angel.

But eventually we had the "we don't vax" conversation, and the doctor was really putting the pressure on for a tetanus shot. Saying that "tetanus is everywhere, and our mouths are very dirty places". Now, I'd thought that tetanus was mostly found in soil etc. I did bring up that since he hadn't had the initial shot that a booster wouldn't work, and he hadn't seemed to remember that till i mentioned it. He then said "we need to start him on a course".

That's terrible. And what a way to discourage parents from bringing the children in for medical help. I never had that happen but have had many a frown over things like (gasp!) nursing my sick toddler in the waiting room.

Yes. I breastfed him to two years, cloth diapered him and did not vax him. I am just a terrible parent.~ Maureen R. Gradvohl ~ > > From: Kylie > Subject: Re: I forgot

Haha--wouldn't it be fun to show your healthy, grown-up child to these people? I have a friend who refused to vaccinate her baby who was born with life-threatening health problems. She was told he needed vaccines even more than the average child. Years later she ran into the nurse who cared for him, and she was shocked at how brimming with health he is.

The doctor would not care. He was Dr. Benedon, who is the stepfather of Cassidy the actress. I filed a complaint against him with the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance. It never did any good, but no one wants a complaint on file, do they? I apologize, this is a hot button issue for me. I have never recovered from it. ~ Maureen R.
