Guest guest
Can anyone point me to any empirical evidence or scientific studies in support of co-sleeping or the family bed? Long story short, I am involved in a nasty custody situation and my ex is trying to make me look like a bad mother b/c I let my 2 daughters sleep in my bed with me. They are 4 and 7, which I realize is a bit on the older side but they enjoy it and so do I and I don't see the harm in it. The brief research I did on the web turned up a lot of opposing viewpoints. I am being forced to take my children to a court-appointed psychiatrist and I must abide by her decision regarding co-sleeping. I am saddened to think that my tyrannical ex is abusing the court system to be so cruel to my girls. Any support or info is appreciated! Thanks! P.S. Sadly, I need " scientific " studies to cite, I can't just provide opinions. I am terrified he will bring up vaccines next, b/c he has already said he wants to get them shots for polio. I fear that battle is next.

Guest guest
Good idea for this to go to ot4vax. She'll have to sign up, though, to get the answers: (ot4vax). , if you do that now, it should get approved right away. Guest guest
FYI--one answer did come in on the ot4vax group to try asking in the family bed section of the mothering.com forums. I would add that the Dr. Sears book Nighttime Parenting probably has studies cited. Not sure if The Family Bed by Tine Thevenen does, but it is a classic on the topic. What an awful situation to be in. My boys slept with us anywhere from 6-10 years. I can't imagine a court telling me they couldn't. Let's see what others from ot4vax come up with for you.
