Guest guest
Greetings, The last few days my baby and older child had a fever and maybe a stomach virus. The older is all better, the baby however is now looking like he has measles. His chest and belly has the typical spots, some of which are also on his temples and behind ears. He does not have fever anymore, has little to no appetite and was crying and cling all day today. Not his normal self. Sounds like maybe roseola? High fever, then fever drops and rash comes. How old is the baby? If you have experience with babies and measles, please let me know of any help that I can provide him. Sure the older one may get it too. Guest guest
doesn't need to have a rash on the face Often starts on chest & stomach and then spreads to face and elsewhere but not always Sheri At 06:51 PM 4/3/2011, you wrote: both my kids had roseola with no face rash. just body and limb rashes. pediatrician called it roseola On Sun, Apr 3, 2011 at 6:03 PM, Miriam Bollinger <brasilmom2@...> wrote: I thought about that too, but he has nothing on his face, so I was ready to rule ti out. Guest guest
Thank you. I looked it up, and seems like a much more potential match. I guess we will be home bound for few days until he bounces back. Anything in particular to watch for? Anything I can do to alliviate symptoms? Guest guest
Yes, I think it is possibly that it is roseola. I will wait until he is up to take another close look at him. I hope he feels better today as he was miserable yesterday. The rashes are indeed unnerving. My older child is severely allergic to several food items, so as a baby she never had soft smooth baby skin. That was bad enough for a first time mother. The young seems to have some food allergies too, but he is too young to get tested. However, for most part his skin is "normal". So, any changes are very visible and of course gets me on my toes. I appreciate the help from the group. We shall see what today brings!Be wellMiriamFrom: wharrison@... <wharrison@...>Subject: Re: My baby may have measlesVaccinations Date: Monday, April 4, 2011, 6:09 AM Hmmm...measles isn't just spots but blotchy, and covers the whole body. The stomach (vomiting) shouldn't be involved, either, but there should have been coughing, too. Roseola sounds probable. As for what to do, no matter what it is, do the usual rest, fluids, Vit. C, no dairy/sugar, etc. It is unnerving when they get these rashes, isn't it? Guest guest
Hi Miriam, I can't offer any advice, as I have not experienced this, but let us know how your little one is doing. Guest guest
Thank you Cheryl The baby did not have the measles, after all. He is all better and in good health. It is sometimes scary when spots, rash and things appear on the skin. Since he had a stomach virus of sorts he had few other issues, one being the spots. He now has a strange smell about himself. I am trying to identify the cause and am strongly leaning towards a liver that needs strengthening. If anyone here can offer any advice as to food or supplements that can help on fortifying the liver I will certainly be appreciative of that. Thanks again for your message. Guest guest
Hi, so glad to hear that your baby didn't have measles. I thought my 8 month old had whooping cough, but he is fine now thanks goodness. It can be scary can't it? Are you going to do any of Sherri's tele classes? I am thinking of doing the one which covers how to treat all of the various illness which people usually vaccinate for. I hope someone can help regardign his liver. Best wishes, Cheryl from Devon UK On Tue, Apr 12, 2011 at 12:37 PM, Miriam Bollinger <brasilmom2@...> wrote: Thank you Cheryl The baby did not have the measles, after all.
