I use a religious exemption for college in NY and have had little issues. I have had to write a letter explaining my beliefs and no one has ask me any questions. I am not sure how that works outside of a college setting.

Religious Exemption for New York State

Hi All,

This is a very long shot but I'm trying anyway:

We will soon have to write the religious exemption letter in order to get my little into into pre-school in New York. I'm interested if anybody from this list has any input regarding:

Twin Park Montessori on 103rd & CPW or

The Y on Nagle up in Washington Heights

Are they very strict or more lenient, anybody?

Feel free to email me off list.

Thanks so much.

it is very difficult for people in NY for their children in school

and it seems each school district is different - some more strict than

others

ne,

I submitted a vaccine exemption for the first time last year, but I didn't have any problems.

I never received a response from the district, so that's a tacit admission that the district agrees that I should be granted a vaccine exemption.

Thanks all. I know NYS is one of the tougher states, it is so encouraging to

read that two of you had no problems getting it through.

ne,

If you haven't already read, New York State Public Health Law 2164 and Department of Health regulation 10 New York Codes Rules Regulation, Section 66-1.3(d). The principal or person in charge may require supporting documents.

I had to explain in my own words why I was requesting the religious exempt, I had to describe the religious principles that guide my abjection to immunization, and whether or not, the religious basis that prohibits particular immunizations.

I recommend that you stick to your religious beliefs and avoid arguing law or mentioning it for that matter.

You are welcome to email me directly.
