LEAD & TB TESTING….OR ELSE!!!

Hi All,

I’d like to get some feedback. My 13 mo old has never been vaxed and she has perfect health, the only health concerns she’s EVER had were 2 colds her entire 13 mo of life and both were after she started daycare at 10 mo old. So…NO ear infections, NO diaper rash, NO asthma, NO sleeping problems, and the list goes on and on for the “NOs†as far as a medical history. Not only does she have perfect health, she is very bright, at her 12 mo checkup, it was determined that she is functioning at about 16 to18 mo old.

Anyway, she has her exemption paper work on file at the daycare. However, the government “authorities†that monitor daycare compliance are saying that vax exemptions do not include lead and TB testing and they are requiring these tests for the daycare to be in compliance. While I understand that they’re not included b/c they are not vaccines, I do not intend to test my child for lead or TB b/c there is absolutely no risk to her for either of these at this time, and I do not like unnecessary medical practices on my child. By the way, we are residents of land, and my daughter attends daycare in DC and we happen to be dealing the DC authorities on this issue. So I’m researching the specific language on lead and TB testing in

DC Regs.

So has anyone had experience with this? I have seen a few lead and TB exemptions floating around online. What would you guys recommend? What direction should I go? They are threatening to kick my child out of daycare. The provider doesn’t have a problem with her not having those tests; it’s the gov’t with the problem.

Thank you all so much for your feedback! This group has truly been a blessing to my family and me!

Peace & Blessings,

Stace

Ask to see the laws regarding that because it's not a communicable disease and shouldn't be anyone's concern. Winnie Re: LEAD & TB TESTING….OR ELSE!!!Vaccinations > It's good of you to question it. Obviously the reasoning behind > objecting to vaccines holds true for TB tests, too: keeping > toxic substances out of your child's body given in the name of > preventive health (in fact, my ped told me she keeps an epipen > on hand in case of an allergic reaction!). I talked one school > into accepting my exemption with that reasoning (plus, they had > TB tests on the vaccine page).> > > First, you can offer to get the blood test instead of the TB > test. My ped said it's the "gold standard" anyway (then why > don't they offer it??). But let's take a look at MD law. Well, > this is interesting:> > (http://edcp.org/tb/) In the upper right hand box, click on the > link to National and State TB Guidelines, and then the first > link about guidelines: > > pg. 7 "Target tuberculin screening to high-risk populations > only."
