So anyway.. just found out today that my 21 month old tested positive for

influenza b strand.... not necessarily that that's any more serious or not than

any other virus out there.. but it's a little scary. I wonder if the vaccine

would have prevented it...?? Thoughts??? I guess maybe my daughter had this last

week, but she bounded back rather quickly.. hopefully she did though and this

doesn't pass to her or anyone else! They didn't seem super concerned at the drs

office.. basically a virus is a virus.... I'm just tired of him having a fever

off and on since Sun.. didn't some of yours have fevers for a long time??? They

also were ify on him having an ear infection, I had him adjusted on Mon also! I

was unsure on doing meds but just want him to feel better so I got them... I

wish I could know what to do with that though!

We all carry all of these viruses around - viruses may not be what

they say they are - they may be doing a job.

>>>ry. I wonder if the vaccine would have prevented it...?? Thoughts???

Once you are here for awhile you will start to agree that NO vaccine

gives immunity ever - only chronic illness.

>>>I guess maybe my daughter had this last week, but she bounded back rather

Sounds like it wasn't a problem

Many times when we are sick it is just because we need to release toxins

>>> hopefully she did though and this doesn't pass to her or anyone else!

Don't worry too much about this - we all get sick and most of us don't

test ourselves.

How high is the fever - and Sunday is only 3 days ago.

Meds?????????? You mean antibiotics? And they don't even know if it

is an ear infection

You get over ear infections, in most cases, in the same length of time

with or without antibiotics.

We are starting to find out that the SOURCE of much of our illnesses

are disturbances in our GI tracts caused by antibiotics.

Personally I would not take an antibiotic EVER unless life and death situation

Probiotics are necessary now and who knows if we can ever replace what

is killed by antibiotics - do we even know for sure what is there.

Glad you are looking at this

Key is to stay out of the peds office

No, it wouldn't have prevented it because vaccines don't work. Plus, he doesn't sound too terribly ill so no reason to want to prevent it, although I know it's more worrisome when they're that young. I would usually become gripped with fear then--usually at night!

There's nothing wrong with having a fever, either. Mine have had them for several days, possibly a week when we all had the flu but it doesn't happen so much any more that they're older. It seems when the kids are younger they tend to run hotter.

The docs probably saw that his ears were red, which they would be with a fever. No reason to think it's an ear infection just because of that. Which meds did you get? Antibiotics or fever reducing meds? I'd use neither, especially if it's a flu bug you don't want to take antibiotics for that. Let it runs its course and I'd give Larix and homeopathics, lots of fluids and rest. Are you familiar with using homeopathics?

What about a urinary tract infection? How would you treat that? I took

antibiotics last time out of desperation. It hurt that bad.

Larix. Great for ear, urinary tract, chest--any kind of infections. My elderly mom had no UTI's for the 1 1/2 years I had her on it. Before and after that she was/is constantly on them, despite the "expert" urologist treating her. You can also use homeopathics but Larix works for us.

Not an herb but it's from the larch tree: (http://www.vitacost.com/Eclectic-Institute-Larix-Dietary-Fiber). This is a great price. You will pay double in a store for this. Mix a spoonful in juice or EmergenC (sometimes a little water first because it dissolves better in water). We take it at the first sign of anything, along with quercetin. It usually stops whatever it is in its tracks.

What about a urinary tract infection? How would you treat that? I took

antibiotics last time out of desperation. It hurt that bad.

Homeopathy cured me once and for all at age 31 (just one dose). (I

had had them throughout my 20s)

And d-mannose

Yes it can hurt bad - even had a catheterization by a kidney specialist

with a metal catheter - yikes I have never felt anything that painful -

and my urine stream hasn't been the same since.
