Guest guest
Good Morning, I'm beside myself, I think my daughter contracted whooping cough from my husband (his case is not confirmed - dumb doctors didn't check for it). She's going to be a year old in six days and I don't know what to expect. I am not a 100% sure if that's what it is, we are in week 2 of her coughing. I took her to her pediatrician yesterday and he sent us for a PCR (swab) to confirm. This is going to be the longest 3 days of my life. Her symptoms don't quite add up to a full blown pertussis, but I'm still worried. She didn't have cold-like symptoms at first, just wet cough. The cough doesn't end in a whooping sound, and it doesn't have to at her age. She does vomit a little, but that could be with any cough. It also seems that her cough gets worse with crying...I just don't know. Have any of you experienced confirmed pertussis in a child this young? I read about pertussis in all my vaccine books and they all have the same description of symptoms, but not every child is the same and each case may differ a little...I don't know.
