Guest guest
Last month I posted about worrying that my homebound elderly father with MS would be getting the flu shot soon. Yesterday his doctor recommended that he not get the vaccine this year because " he only carried the combo seasonal/H1N1 version that would wreak havoc with his immune system. " This doctor never met a drug he didn't like, so I was shocked but very pleased. On the flip side I was at the dentist's office last week and asked the hygenist how her kids were. Very sick with colds, she said, as a lot of people are lately, according to her. She said she thought it must be because people haven't gotten a chance to get their flu shots yet. AARRGGH. Where is the logic in that??? These people had colds, not the flu, and I'd bet my paycheck that many of them had gotten sick BECAUSE they had gotten the flu shot already. Everywhere I look there are flu shot clinics. I try to avoid box stores at all costs, but was out of town recently and had to go in a Target where they were offering flu shots. An employee walked by me, sneezing, snorting and coughing. I couldn't help notice a big welt on her upper arm where she would have gotten the vaccine.
