Guest guest
Currently we live in WA state and have had no problem with personal exemptions for school. From my research on this site and through the internet, I see that the best way to go for our children in elementary school (in Montana) is a religious exemption signed and notarized prior to each year (form HES-113). I would love to hear if anyone has had a religious exemption challenged and the likelyhood of that happening each year. We are looking at the Kalispell area but not sure yet. I have one child who is partially vaccinated and one that has only received one vaccine. Our third child we just brought home from Japan and her adoption will be complete in the next 3-6 months. She's 2 1/2 and has been vaccinated on a much simpler vaccine schedule than what the US uses. We were able to sign an exemption for her immigration visa so she received no vaccines prior to travel home. Of course, my question for her is about preschool. Looks like there are no religious exemptions for preschool in Montana. Has anyone found a way around that? thanks, Pam
Guest guest
I live in Montana - Missoula. We use the religious exemption for my older children in public school which has actually proven to be quite simple. Since I am in school and need my little ones watched a few hours a day, I have had to use a babysitter outside of the daycare system. I didn't realize the law against using an exemption in that kind of setting until just a month or two ago. It is pretty frustrating since we qualify for government programs but can't utilize them because of this law. ~LanieOn Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 3:15 PM, Pam <pamlfitz@...> wrote: Currently we live in WA state and have had no problem with personal exemptions for school. Guest guest
Lanie, Thanks for the response. Am I correct in that the form you would use is the HES-113 and that it needs to be notarized each year? Is that what you are doing? It's great that you haven't had any problems. Thanks again, Pam
Guest guest
I don't see that preschools aren't included: (http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements/montana.aspx) "(8) "School" means a place or institution for the teaching of individuals, the curriculum of which is composed of the work of: (a) any combination of kindergarten through grade 12;( a postsecondary school; or© a preschool." Guest guest
Actually, I am not even sure exactly which form I use. I go to the school's district office every year and ask them for the form. It sometimes takes them awhile to find it but they do have it on hand! Then I turn them in to the school's secretary to file. ~LanieOn Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 9:41 PM, Pam <pamlfitz@...> wrote: Lanie, Thanks for the response.
