Great advice, Jane!

There's no guarantee your kids will get chicken pox even if exposed. My daughter was exposed 5 times when she was little. These were strong exposures. She is now 15 and has never had the disease. She was tested recently for antibodies and does not have enough to be considered " immune " . I'm not worried about it. She apparently has not needed to get the disease. Does not having IgG antibodies mean she's not immune? Not necessarily. Immunity is way more complex than that. Considering all the exposure and no chicken pox as a young child, I think it's unlikely she will get chicken pox when she's an adult, but of course it's possible. If she does, I trust her body will be able to deal with it.

My advice is to let go of the worry and trust in your kids' bodies. If they take on this worry and carry it into adulthood, they may be more susceptible to disease.JaneHealthy Childhttp://www.healthychild.com

I am also a worrier, too, so I know there's no stopping that! Now, what you need to understand is that the vaccine never worked. It didn't wear off. It never worked to begin with. "Working" is defined as presence of antibodies. That does not equal protection. It is a big myth which took me years to realize. I only quit vaccinating because I was concerned about side effects--well, not concerned. We experienced them. It was only over time that I began to understand vaccines don't even work. This is VERY difficult to grasp, I know, because it is so ingrained in us.

Once you do, the next step is to deal with this chicken pox business. My three older boys got it all within three weeks of each other in January 1997. I believe the vaccine came out in 1995. So, who knows if they even got the true chicken pox or if someone in their school had the new vaccine? At the time, two parents also got it who never had it before. The one I saw was covered head to toe with pox. She also was on antibiotics at the time for a tooth infection so I am sure her body was in no shape to fight it well. Oh, and both parents were just fine afterwards.

My youngest is 11--never had it. He was never vaccinated, so it was not the vaccine that kept him from getting it. So, I am in the same boat as you are in wanting him to have CP, only it would never enter my mind to vaccinate because it's all risk and no benefit.

Here is my advice: worry, but leave vaccines out of the equation. They don't work. They only cause disease.
