Guest guest
i don't get these people... even when i was totally blind to the world i assumed that because i had my " shots " i was protected. so when i came across something i never panicked.. its weird that we now have this whole new generation of people that KNOW the shots are " shotty " but still get them because that is what the doctors tell them to do.. does this mean we are getting through, maybe just a little. my mom even assumed because i had my hepatitis vaccinations that i would NEVER get hepatitis.. She told me she got the other owner's phone number to make sure the biting dog had its shots. I said I highly doubted the other owner was toting around a rabid dog, and it probably had its shots since most people did them, except me (strange look...). But so what if they didn't? Pause...pause....no answer. " Well, I want to make sure the dog had them. " But why? Doesn't YOUR dog have her shots? " Yes. " So, isn't she protected? Pause...pause... " I need to make sure the other dog had them. " At that point, I said well, it shouldn't matter what anyone else does if you got them. I'd worry more about the leg injury than rabies. Honestly, people are so convinced vaccines are necessary but they don't trust them to work! Guest guest
Shotty--funny! Yes, I think people assume they will work or at least mostly work--and that's good enough because, gosh, how else could one possibly deal with disease (sarcasm)? When you hear percentages like 89% effective, I think most people take that to be you will personally get at least 89% protection and that the 11% you're not getting is a minor issue. In fact, it means that 11 out of 100 people will get NO protection (and that's if you can believe the numbers out of the manufacturer's mouths--AND that presence of antibodies equals protection to begin with, which it doesn't). Would you buy a car that 11 owners out of 100 found didn't start (and that could cause you serious health problems, including death just for owning it)?
