Guest guest
I saw something disturbing on the news this morning. (I live in IN.) The high school with the outbreak has been holding vaccination clinics for kids who can't prove immunity. To " prove immunity " the kids have to have either had chickenpox or TWO doses of the chickenpox vaccine. Apparently, here in IN, the chickenpox vaccine is one of the required vaccines for kids who're in 6th grade or higher. Now, the thing that disturbed me about the whole thing was that they DID mention what would happen for kids who had religious or medical exemptions. They're forbidden from coming to school for 21 days AFTER the last reported case. Now, if that happened to my kids, I'd be OK because I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I'd just homeschool my older one. (My middle kiddo is in K and I could get him ahead of a lot of his peers, actually, based on the K curriculum at the school corp we moved into last year.) I realize there aren't a lot of us who object to vaccines, but some parents might cave on their principles if they're made to choose between kids being out of school for a LONG time or just getting the dang shot! I just found it interesting and disturbing all at the same time. in IN
