Guest guest
Well, I had the surprise of my life this afternoon. My 11-yr-old fell off his bike and got a nice 6 inch scrape across his side, with a small but nasty gash at the end. After pouring hydrogen peroxide on it and giving him Arnica, I didn't like the looks of it, so off to the ER we went. I warned him we could be in for a fight about tetanus shots, and not to leave my side or let anyone come after him with a needle. I signed the registration papers authorizing them to treat, asking if this would enable them to give him a tetanus shot against my wishes. So, maybe they were forewarned. Anyway, the doctor said one time "he's up to date with his shots?" and I waved her off telling her we don't do those. That was it. It was never mentioned again, and not a word about tetanus at all. Five stitches--and they didn't even offer a prescription for antibiotics or anything (he's allergic to a few so maybe that's why)! If ever there was a time I expected to get pressured, that was it.
