:Are you attending full time? If you are attending half time or less, then your are exempt, and do not have to file an exemption.http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements/illinois.aspx---- On Wed, 7/14/10, cindylouwho_79 <cindylouwho_79@...> wrote:From: cindylouwho_79 <cindylouwho_79@...>Subject: Illinois College Exemption for 30 Year Old MomVaccinations Date: Wednesday, July 14, 2010, 5:30

Hi everyone,

I am returning to get my masters degree at Southern Illinois University in ville, and I am required to get a Tetanus/Diptheria shot. They allow religious exemptions, but I need a written statement. I am Catholic, but I'm afraid that my Catholic beliefs will be challenged if I state this on the exemption form. I am very nervous about this, since I don't want any confrontations from the school or the state. I am 30 years old, and I can't believe that I am required to get a vaccine just to sit in a classroom for two nights a week. Please any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Good find on that, . That should take care of it right there. The college itself also provides you with a form right on their website: (http://www.siue.edu/healthservice/immunization/exemptions.shtml)

The only thing is I don't think the law requires you to sign that you understand you have to leave campus in case of an outbreak, just that you are exempting yourself for religious reasons. But I'm not sure there's any harm in signing that (I've always used a similar one for my kids' schools). Whether you understand or not that you'll have to leave, if they are allowed to exclude you, they'll do it. I wouldn't worry about it--just thought I'd point it out.

I am attending college here in TN in the fall and I had to fill out the form provided by the school and attach a statement as well. I kept mine simple. I did not tell them what my religion is I simply stated: I do not utilize vaccines due to religious beliefs. I don't think they even read it, just stapled it to the other form and said thanks.

You do not have to prove membership in any religion to use a religious exemption.http://www.vaclib.org/legal/yourrights.htm

Hey Thanks Sara! I am taking just one class, so it is technically considered

less than half time, since half time is 5 hours for a graduate student. I will

check with the school just to be certain.
