Guest guest
I would ask sheri but with my children - I give them liquid Vitamin D. I take the gel caplets of Vit D for myself. I do not think it would hurt. Also, give multivitamin. hth Louise > > does anyone have any suggestions or advice i have an 18 month old boy he has not darnk milk since his first birthday at all any which way should he be taking vitamins so he gets his vitamin d i am very concerned and worried , he doesnt ever get sunlight always so hot out thanks Heidi >
Guest guest
Heidi, I've been giving my little girl Vit D since last Oct when she was 6 months old. I stopped giving it to her daily since nice weather and almost-daily sun exposure. She breastfeeds, and I take Vit D and expose myself to the sun as often as I am able to. At first I cut the end off a 5,000 mg cap and split that up over 4 days. Then I found the easier-to-use drops, which contain 1,000 mg per drop. I get our caps from www.homefirst.com and the drops from http://www.drtenpennystore.com/ Hope this helps! ~Kim Untitled sahm2jr wrote: I would ask sheri but with my children - I give them liquid Vitamin D. Guest guest
I have a month old, breastfed baby and at her 2 week check, the dr. told me to give her vitamin d drops (we live in WA, so have opposite problem -- not much sun most of the year!). I have a bottle of Carlson's drops, you give one drop a day for an infant, so it may be the same or a drop more for a toddler. Here's what we have: http://www.amazon.com/Ddrops-Vitamin-Drops-Babies-Carlson/dp/B001ECXIGQ - > > does anyone have any suggestions or advice i have an 18 month old boy he has not darnk milk since his first birthday at all any which way should he be taking vitamins so he gets his vitamin d i am very concerned and worried , he doesnt ever get sunlight always so hot out thanks Heidi >
Guest guest
I wouldn't do the gummy vitamins. Why train them to only take stuff that tastes like candy? Just give him the little soft gel capsule of straight Vit D without any of the other filler/junk stuff. My kids have taken it since they were old enough to chew and swallow it. I just told them it was a vitamin and was good for them. They could have their applesauce (fill in blank) after they ate it. My youngest just wanted it because he saw the older ones taking it, so he never fussed about it. None of my 5 make even a face about it anymore. I would do at least 500 and up to 1000 and skip on days he's out in the mid day sun. I miss giving it to the kids lots of days because we just do, but ideally I give it to them at least 3 times a week. We are in sunny california - but don't always get out in the sun. > >> > >> does anyone have any suggestions or advice i have an 18 month old boy he has not darnk milk since his first birthday at all any which way should he be taking vitamins so he gets his vitamin d i am very concerned and worried , he doesnt ever get sunlight always so hot out thanks Heidi > >> > > > > >
Guest guest
There is not much time in the sun needed to provide the body with what it needs to make VitD...I believe the doc told me (I am low in VitD like most of America) to spend 15 minutes only in the sun at peak hours, 11a-2p and have as much skin exposed as possible...I do think a baby can tolerate a hot day for 15 minutes, no? I would not look to do anything unnatural to a baby over VitD unless blood tests showed a deficiency AND the sun exposure was not working. a Do something to help the animals today. Guest guest
Instead of getting something synthetic, you might want to look into Cod Liver Oil in conjuction with Sunlight, try going swimming, playing in the sprinklers or something that allows you to be outside that is cool. This article will help explain Vitamin D and where to get it. http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health/308-vitamin-d-in-the-infant.html > > does anyone have any suggestions or advice i have an 18 month old boy he has not darnk milk since his first birthday at all any which way should he be taking vitamins so he gets his vitamin d i am very concerned and worried , he doesnt ever get sunlight always so hot out thanks Heidi >
