My 18mos old developed a fever the other day and after a couple of days I bathed him and used some new lotion on him. after that I noticed some little bumps that looked like water blisters but only on legs and arms we are on day 5 and I haven't noticed any more the ones that he does have are now little scabs nothing like the chicken pox I remember as a kid or that my oldest had when she was little. I haven't been to the doc yet since we don't immunize I don't want to hear the BS. My question is have any of you experienced this? I'm not sure it is even chicken pox but my instinct says it is. My 9 yr old, 7 yr old and 4 month old are all now sick as of last night and I'm waiting to see if they develop any blisters as well. also I want to know is if it is how the hell did he get it if the immunization has worked for those who were immunized? Guest guest Posted May 28, 2010 Report Share Posted May 28, 2010 This happened to my daughter as well. She had a runny nose for awhile but she was teething. She got 10 teeth in at once (at 2yrs old). During this time I gave her a bath and right after she got a red scab like rash appear on her belly (little tiny dots). It lasted about 5 days. She didn't get sick except for the runny nose, which she had the whole week the rash was there. I didn't use any new shampoo on her either. Guest guest Posted June 2, 2010 Report Share Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks for your response and I actually thought you were right for a moment there because the older ones didn't develop anything after the fever and sore throat except that their throat was sore a few days later. The 4 month old lost her voice and had little blisters in her mouth and now they are popping up on her body from scalp to genitals not great in number though so I'm thinking hand foot mouth or a mild form of chicken pox. I don't think taking them to the doc will matter at this point cuz there is nothing you can do for either. Thanks again though. > > Sounds as if it's a reaction to the new lotion. My son is allergic to some baby lotions and has had a similar reaction. I would try some benadryl or if you go the natural route there's a few things to try. Plantain ointment (weed, not the fruit) works great for any skin issues, chickweed works great for any itching/skin issues, or something to calm the immune system (astragalus rooy and marshmallow root together work great). Guest guest Posted November 3, 2011 Report Share Posted November 3, 2011 When my sister and I had chicken pox when we were kids, she got one in her throat which made it hurt to eat. But she still eventually overcame it and is a successful adult. I have also known kids who got them in their noses and ears. I would think that as long as they heal, it doesn't really matter. Just because we now have the ability to see internally, it doesn't mean it's more dangerous. For all we know, it's supposed to go there. Nearly everyone gets chickenpox and no one cares as it is generally a mild illness unless you are immuno-compromised. I had it as a kid, no big deal, four of my five children have had it so far. Three of my daughters had it all at the same time. All they got were itchy spots, sticky eyes and they felt a bit tired but they were running around playing and they still wanted to eat. The biggest complaint was itching. One was only 7 months old when she got it and she had it slightly worse and had a fever with hers but it was still no big deal. My youngest daughter got it when she was 4, again all it was was itchy spots (no fever, she didn't feel ill). Son hasn't had it yet but I was exposed to it when pregnant so he's probably been made immune by the placenta.None of us have any scars or after-effects, it is so mild. In the UK there are 4 deaths per year in the immuno-compromised. That's all out of over 62 million population (2010 figures). Even my three month old. A little discomfort but we all survived! It wasn't bad at all. Just keeping kids home was the only complication. I homeschool too! My neighbor, who's a nurse, tried to scare me by a story of chicken pox death......only to find she had only "heard" the story not actually saw it herself.
