We have not yet even gotten close to the point where the AVN will be sustainable, but at least we are paying off outstanding debts and nearing the point where we can start to see - perhaps - that the future may not be quite as bleak as we'd feared. We are not out of the woods yet, but we are trying really hard to get there so please don't think we've given up! Taking the pledgeMany of you have been writing to say that you would love to donate funds, but you're afraid that we will fold and your donations will all have gone for naught.I understand this fear completely and would like to offer a possible solution. Because we have asked for $100 from everyone who can afford it and because so many of you have said you will be happy to donate this amount or more if we remain open, here is a deal I'd like to propose.Pledge your donation. Don't give us any funds yet, but let us know what you are ready, willing and able to donate to us should we decide to stay open. That will allow us to add up how much has been pledged and, if these pledges total up to a figure that will allow us to continue, we will then contact you and say - thanks for the pledge, you can provide the funds now.So if we do fold - you won't be out of pocket. If we don't, your donation will help to keep us going. To pledge funds, please send an email to both meryl@... as well as judy@.... Give us your name and the amount you are pledging (it does not have to be $100 - any amount would be appreciated) and we will take care of the rest. Please just keep in mind that we will be deciding by the 28th of February so don't pledge more than you can afford because if things go according to plan, we will need those funds by that date. Thanks as always,Meryl AVN Online Did you know that the AVN now has a presence on Facebook and Twitter as well as a Blog that is updated on an almost daily basis? Some more of your wonderful letters! Hi Meryl, So sad to read that AVN will close it's doors at the end of the month if finances are not forthcoming. I can understand why from your point of view. You have dedicated your life - personal and private - to the vaccination cause and for that I thank you so much. It is thanks to you that we became informed about immunisation and decided not to vaccinate our daughter. My question is, once AVN closes its doors, to whom can parents turn to get information or raise concerns if the Government tries to force us to vaccinate our children? Who will help us defend our rights? These are the questions going through my mind? I wish you and the rest of the team at AVN all the best for the future and thank you for informing many parents about immunisation and providing us with the opportunity to make an informed choice. Enjoy your time with your family, you deserve it. Kind Regards,TADear TA - thanks so much for your email - I wish I could say that there was a good answer to your questions, but apart from 2 local groups - one in Brisbane (VAIS) and another in SA (VISA), there are no other groups in Australia to support and inform parents and health professionals about this issue. This is why it is so important that the AVN continue. It is up to those who are reading this and who have not donated or become members to make the final decision - do you want us to continue?Hi Meryl, I just wanted to thank you for all your work. I have been meaning to donate for quite awhile but just never seem to get around to it. I will definitly donate on my next payday! I am part of a local church and once a year they have gift giving sunday where members can donate more than they usually do. I think its a great idea of a way to be able to raise funds. I regularly tythe and I really don't notice it each week if it is something I do all the time. Maybe it might be worth setting up direct debits so your members can donate regularly in small amounts because sometimes the small amounts that are often can go along way. Just a thought. I do appreciate your support and all the information you have provided. I have 2 young sons and I am glad to say that they are not vaccinated and will never be. It is ironic that I had to get the doctor to sign the consenscious objection form for medicare. At 18 months the government give out a bonus for parents that have fully vaccinated their children, we received this bonus even though we have never vaccinated our sons and yet they use this as a scare tactic for parents to get them to vaccinate. Also they say that our children won't be allowed into child care and school because of our choice. It's ridiculous!! I hope I make sense! Thankyou for everything!!CHThanks CH and you make perfect sense! Bribing parents to vaccinate their children is as immoral as bribing doctors to push vaccines. If vaccines are wanted, parents will get them. If they don't get them, they didn't want them. End of story. And if doctors feel that vaccines are important, they will give their patients advice to get them. They should not require extra funding to do this. Here's hoping that the pending legislation in Federal parliament won't make it even more difficult for parents who are conscientious objectors to vaccination. If the AVN continues, this will be our first call for action - to work against this repressive and discriminatory legislation! Please share the information by forwarding to a friend!
