Guest guest
Yes an ND if possible. Or find a DO (Osteopathic Doc) who are usually more holistic. Or interview GP's on their stance on natural treatment, vaccination, overall philosophy...do your best to discern if open and supportive. Use intuition as well as information. Seeing a homeopath can resolve things along with superior nutrition, with other treatments like massage, cranial, acupuncture, ayurveda, chiro...shouldn't have the need for much else. There are at least these choices Liz > > This thread begs the question. What do you all do when your kids get sick? > The naturopath? Guest guest
Just be careful with a DO, though. My ped is one and she is open to what I do. She usually says "here's the condition so treat it with whatever herbal or homeopathic med you would give." Then she'll ask what that is and look it up herself. If she wants to prescribe something, she will say "I know you probably don't want this but..." However, she's also the one who gave my son a TB test just because it was on the health form (private school--they require it but not if you don't vax). So, keep in mind they have meds in their office that might find their way into your kids. Winnie where do you all go when sick? Guest guest
She's still way better than any MD I've taken them to. Another problem I ran into with my kids with her, though, is that since she does still prescribe meds, the kids want to do what she says. It's probably better to go to the kind of doc you respect. I don't plan to go back to her unless desperate. Winnie where do you all go when sick? Guest guest
Behind on emails--sorry. I treat them at home. On occasion I will take to the ped for a diagnosis, and rarely to the ER if I am in fear for their lives. I was more worried when they were little, of course, and depended more on the naturopath at that time than the ped for treatment. Older kids, well, you know them better and they can tell you what's wrong, too. With experience, though, you learn what works and when it's more than you can handle. Trial and error. I don't recommend new parents go it alone unless they are really knowledgable and confident. But definitely avoid the ped if you can't resist the vaccine-pushing.
