I am pregnant and due to have my baby in April.(in Northwest Indiana) My question is how I can go about avoiding my newborn from recieving the hep b vaccine.....in a way that I am " legally protected " . What exactly is the procedure that I have to follow to refuse the vaccine? Guest guest
you do NOT have to vaccinate - there are no laws that say you do The laws are for school attendance only - not to be born and live in Indiana. Its late here You have to make a birth plan telling them what you do NOT want and then never leave your baby alone with them. Guest guest
We had a birth plan written out documenting no vaxes. and then even more important than that is to make sure your husband/family member does NOT leave the child even for a second. It may not be a malicious thing by the hospital. It might just be a nurse seeing the baby hasn't had the vax and administering it out of procedure, but not thinking, "oh I'll show them." ya know? so that is what we did. Guest guest
If I am so lucky to have another baby, I will add my own bracelet to baby's leg stating no vax, no eye goop, no vit K, no bath, do not touch w/o permission & do not remove from room. You will be sued if you do.I also leave as soon as I can walk, less than 24 hours. Practice saying no. Guest guest
I am due April 3rd and am in the process of writing my birth plan. I have already made signs to put on the baby's bassinet in the hospital that say DO NOT VACCINATE, and that the baby will always be accompanied by my husband or I. I will put one on both sides of the door as well - we have private rooms where I will deliver and there is never any question about rooming in, so that is helpful. I do have a question though, where can I get the oral vitamen K to admisiter ourselves? And, the "eye goop" they put on...did any of you use anything to replace it? Thanks as always for an amazing group to be a part of... Taralee If IVETA reads this...please e-mail me your phone number again...I lost it and have not been able to return your calls! Thanks!!! Guest guest
You can get the Vit. K at www.birthwithlove.com - order early as shipping takes time. You don't need the eye goop unless you have an STD which could cause blindness in the baby. Melinda C. >
Guest guest
Thanks Melinda...I didn't think I needed the eye goop or replacement for it, but I was second guessing my self. Thank you also for the link! Taralee Re: Avoiding newborn Hep B vaccine in Indiana You can get the Vit.
