Doctors,

If you want to rant. Why not leave PBS a "nice" message like I just did. It didn't change anything, but I feel a whole lot better!! :) Just follow the link.

"I am appalled by your segment on Chiropractic. Where did you guys get your information? Did you just make it up? Have you even checked the latest literature or research? Did you even bother to talk to a Chiropractic researcher? Not only are your statements about Chiropractic inaccurate, but you have shown your ignorance as well. If Chiropractic did not get results why are millions of dollars spent out of patient's OWN POCKETS each year? Do you think we could actually fool that many people and convince them to part with thier money? Of course not. A "closed loop"...please. Like it or not, Chiropractic results speak for themselves. And incidentally your stroke incident number is WAY OFF!!! Why don't you ask your MD expert how many people are killed by drugs, surgery, and mis-diagnoses each year. Alan Alda, I thought you were smarter than that (check your resources first)."

I myself have seen such pieces, in combination with certain instances hurt chiropractic - regardless of what is Abe is purported to have said. I can remember when the stroke issue first seemed to surface to the mainstream media in the mid 90's. Concurrently a chiropractor in Aurora Missouri (near where I practiced at the time) paralyzed a young woman with Rheumatoid arthritis. She had degeneration of the atlantoaxial ligament - her MD okayed chiro treatment as long as it involved no cervical manipulation. The DC talked her into it and quadraplegia was the result. at the same time a DC in Monett Missouri paralyzed a young fireman.

This is how I found out about THAT incident : I was asked to speak on a local radio talk show. Right before air time the host asks if I am willing to talk about the safety of chiropractic to which I responded "certainly". As the show starts the host says "Dr. Anglen, my son recently was paralyzed by a chiropractor who did what was called a 'knee/neck' manuever in which he put his knee on the back of his neck as he lay face down, wrapped his fingers around his forehead and then pulled arching his neck backward until it popped. Carl Cleveland from KC testified at the trial and said the only place he saw such a manuever was in the Marines. Care to comment on that?" Let me tell you the minutes passed s-l-o-w-l-y on that interview.

I had ALOT of patients for the next couple of years refuse cervical adjustments, pull themselves from care, remove family members from care etc.

About the same time a 'scientific' study was done proving vitamin E caused lung cancer. Later it was refuted because it turns out they picked a group of Scandinavian men who lived in a rare area in which the soil and food was completely depleted of selenium, who had been asbestos workers and who smoked a minimum of a pack and a half a day as well as giving them a very minimal dose of weak vitamin E (50 IU per day of tocopheryl acetate). But I had people who saw the piece run on THE TODAY SHOW and refuse mention of vitamins.

Such pieces do have an effect. Abe may have felt the bad things said about him had no effect on the American people, but he did get shot in the head when all was said and done.

Steve;

The few patients that mentioned the P...BS special this week told me they

really thought it was a con job. One of those was a woman in her 70's who

does volunteer work at the hospital and is quite medically oriented. I

guess the message is that if you are going to try to bullshit the public

you should have a little respect for their common sense and be a little

subtle and careful in crafting lies. P....BS was so over the top with that

piece Hackeye Pierce did that they didn't fool anyone - just made them

wonder why that wonderful Mr. Alda would take money to say such awful things.

I didn't say that Abe or I didn't think that damage was done by the article.

The lesson is that you can do more to counter the damage by doing what you

do best (successfully treat patients and the patients they refer) and I

might add, support the initiative.

In fact, I'm looking for office space right next to your clinic!

I'm offering new patients FREE x-rays, FREE first exams, FREE first 6

Ok so now PBS is pushing vaccines with their promo messages!! My daughter

healthy is to get vaccinated, they're wrong! " Exactly!! UG! I do like PBS

My kindergarten son and I watch Sid every morning before school, I was shocked,

half expected the kids to drop to the floor convulsing after the shots given by

grandma! haha. At his school here in Pasco it's " Just Say NO to Drugs " week AND

started H1N1 shots this week.

Ironic, isn't it?

I did not know that Sid was going to be talking about this and my son was watching it while I was doing stuff around the house. He comes running to me and saying Sid got a vaccination to stay healthy and why has he not had a shot. He told us all about why is was important to get vaccinated. Just goes to show you how easy it is to brainwash a child. I was shocked that they would have such a topic! What's next evolution???I did get on the website so I could write a message to the creators but was unable to locate contact info. I am also very disgusted with this brainwashing. We started watching the show before we knew what it was going to be about. Seems they are trying to get kids to think that if their parents really love them they will have them vaccinated. We turned it off right away because I dont want my kids heads filled with lies.

Oh, I don't know. They're going to hear things you disagree with soon enough. It might as well be with you right there so you can gasp loudly and say "Oh, no! I hope Sid's okay! Don't his parents know that the shot can make him sick? I would never do that to you. We don't vaccinate our family. It's too bad others do these things that WE know are bad."

AND hopefully enough of these situations occur so you can have the experience I did today with my 10 year old. He came home from school complaining how a girl in his class is so scared of the swine flu it's ridiculous and even the head of school is really weird about it because he overheard her talking about catching germs in school. He shook his head in disgust, then asked me if I was an official homepathic doctor. I said no. So, he said Oh, but you're a vaccine expert, right? and I said Yes. He nodded in approval and that was that. They learn from hearing both sides, too.

I found info. Sent info to the list for replies and feedback.

I got a generic response back saying it was showing the science

behind the vaccines and that every parent had to OK the vaccines and this can

give discussion on vaccines and if you support /oppose.
