Guest guest
Just had a friend mention on facebook that her 14-yr-old daughter broke out into hives for "no reason." I asked if she had recently been vaccinated and her response was: "She had the flu shot the monday b/f but it would have happened earlier than sat. a.m.....the biggest worry is...will it happen again when I am not around??!! will have her checked for food allergies.... no bee stings at all..... weird." I wrote back (after thinking maybe I shouldn't because I don't know her all that well, but it was a good audience with many people responding to her): "Vaccine reactions don't always happen immediately. It can be weeks or months before problems crop up. I've been researching vaccines for years. Trust me, what you described is not weird at all after being vaccinated. Your doctor will probably want to know about it so it can get reported, and keep other kids from having the same problem (maybe see if the shot had mercury in it while you're at it). Poor thing. I hope she's better!" Think I was too preachy and she'll take me off her friend list now?? Winnie
