Guest guest
Anyone have a lot of experience with killing mold both in the environment and body? I took a bath with 8 ounces of ammonia last night and felt like a new man in that the itching almost completely went away. So now I am quite sure that I have a fungal infection as well as bacterial. Does anyone know if it is safe to take such a bath? I read that it was... Is it true mixing ammonia and vinegar can kill you? Which of these might be better to use in the environment? I am seeing mold on my shower stall and I suspect my truck is infested with it as I tend to have very bad reactions if I am in it for more than a half hour or so. Can I use vinegar or ammonia to kill the mold? How do you kill the spores in the air? Will it be safe to spray white vinegar now that I have and may take another ammonia bath? Not spraying it anywhere...just pouring in the bath. I know these are a lot of questions! Kind and insightful folks are helping with bacterial end - which I am making progress with (!) - but I want to address the fungal as well as I heard it can kill you and cause irreversible damage Any thoughts sincerely appreciated! Guest guest
People here tell me Lysol is good for killing mold externally. I treated my shower with it today. I didn't use the steel wool for scrubbing, but just the spraying on the shower. It did lighten the mold on the grout. I'll have to keep working at it and report back. For some reason bleach does not kill the entire mold structure as seen by microscope. I used to spray bleach in the shower, but am now trying Lysol. Bleach killed mold grows back quickly. For internals it is probably necessary to take antifungal medications and change your diet to a candida type of diet. and Aggi have been doing a candida diet with good results and you can google that to see what it entails. There are thousands of books on treating Candida Albicans, and if you tried some or all of their reocmmendations with a book that would be most thorough. Anything that makes mold or fungus grow is bad for you internally if you have a weakened body ecology. Pau d'arco tea is one of my favorites and it helps control candida as well as using lots of garlic (raw) or Allicin as others here have talked about recently. I was tested for molds and had a specific candida, not Albicans, but another variety less common - the best according to testing to kill overgrowth was garlic for me. Allicin is in garlic, but the more processed, like powdered garlic, probably does not contain much or any Allicin. If you are really serious about attacking the issue, I'd say to buy a book. I have a book called The Body Ecology Diet and if you read it, you'll see more extensively what problems commonly seen in health are being caused by candida. A candida diet may not be enough. You may have to go further with this. So many conditions are caused by candida overgrowth including depression, manic-depression, digestive upsets, jock itch, nail fungus, sinusitis, thrush. You may have to get a prescription of Nystatin or something like that. The list is endless.Things that help kill off mold in the body, just a few: coconut oil (pure organic); oil of oregano, garlic, apple cider vinegar; after you kill off candida it is important to restore intestine with a probiotic. We all have our favorite treatments. The book The Body Ecology Diet says that all vinegars except Apple Cider Vinegar sold in health food stores with the "mother" in it increase fungal overgrowth, so avoid all vinegars except apple cider vinegar with the "mother culture." It should have a murkiness in the vinegar, not clear. This can be used down drains to help the mold in drains too. I've done that. From: "s.jay8383" <s.jay8383@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 3:44:19 PMSubject: Killing Mold Questions Anyone have a lot of experience with killing mold both in the environment and body? Guest guest
Jay-Ammonia is toxic and will do more damage long term even though it will temporarily calm symptoms. If you get it on your skin it will absorbe into the blood stream and get to organs and tissues.AandrayaOn Aug 24, 2011, at 5:44 PM, "s.jay8383" <s.jay8383@...> wrote: Anyone have a lot of experience with killing mold both in the environment and body? Guest guest
I agree.....ammonia is dangerous & ought not to be put on the body. Maybe anti funga sprays or creams would help. puts a cup of Lysol into her bath to soak. Or Epsom Salts in a bath have anti fungal properties. Or you might try the chitinase from barley recipe; chitinase is the enzyme which digests the bonds in chitin; the cell walls of fungi are made of chitin (as are the exoskeletons of mites). Guest guest
I thought Lysol had bleach in it though? I am even more concerned about putting bleach in the bath than I was ammonia. Perhaps that it is my own flawed thinking... Right now I am taking a bath (every other day) with Apple Cider Vinegar, baking soda, and epsom salts. Maybe I should just stick to that since it seems ammonia is no good in the bath? > > > > > > > > Anyone have a lot of experience with killing mold both in the environment > > and body? > > > > I took a bath with 8 ounces of ammonia last night and felt like a new man > > in that the itching almost completely went away. > > > > So now I am quite sure that I have a fungal infection as well as bacterial. > > > > Does anyone know if it is safe to take such a bath? Guest guest
No, I don't think the Lysol people on this site suggest, does contain bleach. I do believe there is one in a spray bottle which does contain bleach but that is not the product people here are suggesting. It is the bottle of Lysol multi surface Complete Clean that people here recommend. On 25 August 2011 10:47, s.jay8383 <s.jay8383@...> wrote: I thought Lysol had bleach in it though? Guest guest
There is a Lysol sold that does have bleach in it, and as Krys said, it is in a spray bottle. That is not the one recommended here. This particular one recommended here you can buy at Lowe's. The actual bottle has 133 oz in it which is the UK gallon. US gallon is 127 oz. I believe. Do you have a Lowe's near you? My daughter had Lowe's in Arkansas. They are all over the US. Home Depot which is closest to me does not carry this.http://www.lowes.com/pd_44794-861-036241756109_0__?productId=3182851 & Ntt=lysol & pl=1 & currentURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Dlysol & facetInfo=From: "Krys Brennand" <krys109uk@...>bird mites Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2011 10:03:46 AMSubject: Re: Re: Killing Mold Questions No, I don't think the Lysol people on this site suggest, does contain bleach. Guest guest
Not sure whether a US fl oz is the same as an imperial fl oz. There are (or were, since they're more or less obsolete) 160 imperial fl oz in an imperial gallon LOL. How confusing having the same name for measurements which are different. Better off sticking with litres. ;-P On 25 August 2011 12:24, <Goldstein@...> wrote: Whoops... it has 144 oz of liquid in it. Over a gallon! Good deal.
