Aandraya,My doctor certainly thought I have had Bartonella too, with so many of the same symptoms, as well as Lyme and other co-infections. These co-infections and fungal infections like histoplasmosis have so many commonalities and unfortunately some of the testing for them is poor. Histo seems to be a little better than Bartonella. Bartonella can be very hard to get rid of, like Lyme Disease. Thanks for your thoughts. We do seem to have the same conditions Aandraya, or at least the same types of symptoms. One of the indications that I had Bartonella was my sore feet, but specifically I felt like I had sand in my shoes all the time with clean feet. I have not had the extreme weight loss which so many with histoplasmosis do have. But histo could be an issue for me too. We had a very moldy house when I came down with all this, and the mites which may have transmitted the Lyme and co-infections. We had not changed the filter in the house for 11 years and were so dumb we didn't even know where it was in the house. I thought we had a central heater without a filter. Husband was no smarter on that issue. I was wondering why it was so humid in the house, until one day it suddenly came to my attention that the thing near the ceiling might be some sort of filter (high ceilings). When we got to it we saw that the whole filter and surrounding area had an inch of mold in the filter and duct. We brought a lot of our problems on ourselves I believe. The mites grow like wild in humidity too. And were in California where it is mostly dry during the summers, so it had just occurred to me that it was really humid in the house. And like , I still get chills on one part of the body, off and on. We also get the floating fibers. From: "Aandraya" <aandraya@...>bird mites Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 2:06:33 PMSubject: Re: Re: 3rd update on Dutchy's - more good news !

-I can't remember if you looked into Lyme, some of your symptoms are so right on for bartonella, one of the Lyme coinfections- the blue areas and veins enlarged at the surface, pain in feet, lesions that won't heal- they usually take on a dark purple color, floaters... Lyme is a clinical diagnose, once it's chronic it's common to test negative. These weird fungal infections are opportunistic and often complicate the whole picture. I have all of the symptoms you listed, some have greatly improved, and it's been a slow road. I'm sure the bacterial/fungal infections attracted the insects to me and they were living off me.Have you seen a Lyme literate doctor?AandrayaOn Jul 26, 2011, at 3:51 PM, Benton <sarahbenton48@...> wrote:

Hi, Cecelia,

From what I've read, there are 3 ways they test for Histoplasmosis. One is by taking a lung x-ray and seeing the fungus cloud. The other is growing it in an agur dish from a skin scaping. That is long and costly as after weeks of growing it they then infect a rat with it and test it. Doesn't make sense to me. Can't they see it in the dish? The third way is checking the white blood count for a blood infection. That's what my Dr. did. It does not prove the fungus, but it advocates treatment. Based on my signs, samples, and symptoms, the Dr. agrees its probably Histoplasmosis. It is rare for it to come out of the skin as it usually graces the tropical areas of the world. Here are some fungal signs I've had:

* unexplained sore throat (on and off)

* Chills

* Extreme weight loss with the histoplasmosis

* Dark areas and veins coming up to the skin surface (to deposit fungus)

* Raised red areas that stay for months and can multiple

* Swollen ankles and effected feet

* Mites and bugs giving you,"bedroom" eyes

* Deep cravings for sugar and carb laden foods

* eye floaters that look like fungus

* darkness trying to grow on nails and teeth

* White fibers blowing from hair during drying

* Sample of mycelium and hypae from body

* an ichy feeling and upon rubbing, stuf is removed

* puffyness here and there causing sagging skin, wrinkles, and swollen eyes.

Hi Gator,

Many thanks for your nice message. I am still not mite-free, but my life quality

has just so much improved and the Dutchy's have helped me achieving it big time.

The Dutchy is a mite, a natural predator of the bird mite. I purchased them in

Holland, that's why they are called Dutchy's ;-)

Tha latin name is

Hypoaspis miles (which is Dutchy's) or Hypoaspis aculeifer.

Here are US suppliers for both.

>>

Do not worry that the predators would bother or bite you. I did not notice them

at all. They're doing their job quietly in the background.

When the job is finished, they will start to eat up each other. It is fantastic.

My home and car are almost mite-free now. I am going to get more Dutchy's for my

office next.

Good luck to you and do report how it goes ;-)

Hi Aggi Glad to hear you had a great holiday, the weather was brilliant too!Wanted to update you on what we've been doing here. We ordered sulphur soap and msm powder online and bought a lot of dettol complete clean, which contains the same active ingrediant as Lysol, Benzalkonium Chloride. The sulphur soap is great. I use it in the shower and leave it on, this has stopped a lot of itching. For my hair I use Head & Shoulders shampoo. My mum has been doing the same and we have definately noticed an improvement.I take a teaspoon of msm in water (4,000 mg) along with 2,000 mg of vitamin C, which helps it work

better - I am assuming this is working, it's hard to know just yet.Have had big reduction in bites which is such a relief! The dettol seems to be helping too for general cleaning and also in the washing machine.I do feel this in an uphill struggle most of the time, especially with my 2 daughters .. they don't have the same symptoms, just the odd bit of itchyness and a bite or 2.. I don't know where to start cleaning in their rooms :0/We are still struggling to contact Refona about the Dutchy mites - we've left msgs on the answer phone and tried to email but something blocks me when I try to send it - do you have any ideas's on how we can get them here in England?

Hi ,My mother lives in Epsom Surrey. Zoflora also contains Benzalkonium Chloride but at a higher concentration, 5% if my memory serves. The lavender & bouquet fragrances also contain an ingredient with insecticidal properties. Cecilia recommended " Selsun " & my mother finds it very helpful. She also uses the sulphur soap plus Epsom Salts & finds it good. Her doctor, from India, suggested putting oatmeal in an old stocking or tights leg & floating it in the water to help combat drying of the skin.

I dug up some sources for predatory mites in UK; both species will eat bird mites. For Hypoaspis miles:http://www.defenders.co.uk/pest-solutions/biological-sciarid-fly-control.html

Hi ,

Fantastic, you are getting better ! I am so happy for you !

It is one good thing that your kids keep mainly uneffected.

Can imagine how hard the cleaning must be for you. I have been exhausted for 2

years, because of all the cleaning, washing and ioning

plus working full time.

Sorry to hear that you have not been able to contact Refona. Krys has just

posted UK suppliers of the predators here. Have you seen it ?

Did not know that Vit.C is a booster for the MSN as well. Going to add it to my

supplements. Thanks for that hint.

This is why I love this forum. Every single day I am learning something new plus

the great contribution of each and every one here.

Keep fighting, I'll cross my fingers for you and your family.

And once you have got the predators, the situation will improve again.

Hi Krys, Cecilia and Aggi and everyone hereThank you for your replies, everyone is so caring.. I guess we all need each other with this problem we share, especially as doctors seem to be clueless (well, my doctor is!)Thanks for the links to the predator mite sites Krys, I have had a look and will call 1 or 2 tomorrow for prices and what to do with them when we get them. Hi ,My mother lives in Epsom Surrey. Zoflora also contains Benzalkonium Chloride but at a higher concentration, 5% if my memory serves. The lavender & bouquet fragrances also contain an ingredient with insecticidal properties. Cecilia recommended "Selsun" & my mother finds it very helpful. She also uses the sulphur soap plus Epsom Salts & finds it good. Her doctor, from India, suggested putting oatmeal in an old stocking or tights leg & floating it in the water to help combat drying of the skin.

Wanted to update you on what we've been doing here.

My mum has been doing the same and we have definately noticed an improvement.

I take a teaspoon of msm in water (4,000 mg) along with 2,000 mg of vitamin C, which helps it work

better - I am assuming this is working, it's hard to know just yet.Have had big reduction in bites which is such a relief!

The dettol seems to be helping too for general cleaning and also in the washing machine.I do feel this in an uphill struggle most of the time, especially with my 2 daughters .. they don't have the same symptoms, just the odd bit of itchyness and a bite or 2.. I don't know where to start cleaning in their rooms :0/

When the job is finished, they will start to eat up each other. It is fantastic. My home and car are almost mite-free now. I am going to get more Dutchy's for my office next.

Good luck to you and do report how it goes ;-)

Hi ,I hope you have some luck with the predatory mites. My mother has been having a lot of trouble with these mites since about last September, though we think they were probably present earlier.

My mother was with a horrible doctor's practice, they treated her abysmally & I'm currently going through the NHS complaints procedure (it's surprising the hoops they will jump in trying to get one to drop a complaint). Anyway, I looked around at the other practices in the area, & found one which looked good, & my mother signed up with them. While the GPs openly say they are not au fait with this kind of problem, they have been lovely. They have been so helpful & sympathetic, they've been running tests & tackling allergic reactions & are working on a fungal infection, while she & my stepfather are trying to tackle the mites in the house.

In the light of my mother's experience, I'd definitely recommend shopping around & trying a different practice. It makes so much difference when one is treated kindly & not treated like some loony who is imagining things.

I hope the predators work for your mum.  Now the weather is cooler I'm going to get my mum to try them too. She was a bit worried that they might bite her too, but hopefully I've persuaded her that they can't.

Hi KrysWe are in Bromley in Kent. I don't think I will bother looking for another doctor, as I am hoping we will sort this out ourselves with the help from others and their advice. My mum's doc is good though and will help in anyway he can, even though he doesn't really know where to begin with this. This morning I am spraying every surface, walls, ceilings, floors, doors windows..everything - to see if this makes a difference. We are ordering the Hypoaspis Miles mites next week - just not too sure on how to apply them in the home. The people we have spoken to at the various companies that you gave the

links to are only used to them being used in greenhouses etc. I think Aggi had the mites in cartridges, but these will be supplied in shaker bottles.. I need to know how to look after them properly and not inadvertantly kill them. Obviously, we won't vaccumn or use bleach etc!If you or anyone else has any ideas on how to use predators mites they would be very much appreciated. xFrom: Krys Brennand <krys109uk@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, August 19, 2011 2:18 AMSubject: Re: Re: 3rd update on Dutchy's - more good news !

Do not worry that the predators would bother or bite you. I did not notice them at all. They're doing their job quietly in the background.

When the job is finished, they will start to eat up each other. It is fantastic. My home and car are almost mite-free now. I am going to get more Dutchy's for my office next.

Good luck to you and do report how it goes ;-)

Hi , if you can't get the cartridges, please do the following and this is

what the supplier in Holland told me. To put the predator mites in your home you

first have to make a simple calculation as you need one little pile of mites and

their nesting material per square meter along all floor boards. Do that

calculation first. Depending on that you go and buy the smallest terracotta

flower planting pots you can find, put the piles down, cover them each with a

terracotta pot upside down, put a match under each and every pot so that the

predators can walk in and out underneath. Furthermore, keep the piles humid, not

wet ! I would use one of those sprinkler bottles you use for the plants in your

home. You need to carry out this procedure as soon as the mites have been

delivered. They can not be stored in a fridge.

Good luck to you !

I dug up some sources for predatory mites in UK; both species will eat bird mites. For Hypoaspis miles:http://www.defenders.co.uk/pest-solutions/biological-sciarid-fly-control.html

Wanted to update you on what we've been doing here.

We are still struggling to contact Refona about the Dutchy mites - we've left msgs on the answer phone and tried to email but something blocks me when I try to send it - do you have any ideas's on how we can get them here in England?

Hi Gator,

Many thanks for your nice message. I am still not mite-free, but my life quality has just so much improved and the Dutchy's have helped me achieving it big time.

The Dutchy is a mite, a natural predator of the bird mite. I purchased them in Holland, that's why they are called Dutchy's ;-)

Tha latin name is

Hypoaspis miles (which is Dutchy's) or Hypoaspis aculeifer.

Here are US suppliers for both.

Hi ,

Fantastic, you are getting better ! I am so happy for you !

It is one good thing that your kids keep mainly uneffected.

Can imagine how hard the cleaning must be for you. I have been exhausted for 2 years, because of all the cleaning, washing and ioning

plus working full time.

Sorry to hear that you have not been able to contact Refona. Krys has just posted UK suppliers of the predators here. Have you seen it ?

Did not know that Vit.C is a booster for the MSN as well. Going to add it to my supplements. Thanks for that hint.

This is why I love this forum. Every single day I am learning something new plus the great contribution of each and every one here.

Keep fighting, I'll cross my fingers for you and your family.

And once you have got the predators, the situation will improve again.

Kindness goes a long way. We all need more of it every day. So glad your mum found someone decent that would do whatever they can in their power to help her. Kindness begets kindness. It is the butterfly effect in action. Sounds a little simplistic, but it really is quite profound. Also glad you filed a complaint on your mum's behalf. What a wonderful son you are. From: "Krys Brennand" <krys109uk@...>bird mites Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2011 6:18:25 PMSubject: Re: Re: 3rd update on Dutchy's - more good news !

BTW where are you? My mum's in Epsom.All the best,KrysOn 17 August 2011 16:36, Keogh <kazk1@...> wrote:

Hi Krys, Cecilia and Aggi and everyone here

Thank you for your replies, everyone is so caring.. I guess we all need each other with this problem we share, especially as doctors seem to be clueless (well, my doctor is!)

Thanks for the links to the predator mite sites Krys, I have had a look and will call 1 or 2 tomorrow for prices and what to do with them when we get them. Also, I am stocking up on Zoflora disinfectant at the weekend.

My mum says hi, she has really been suffering with this problem, but is hopeful about the predators. One of the biggest problems with this is feeling like your life is on hold

until it is gone.. I can't really think too much about anything else apart from this. How long has your mother suffered with this problem Krys? I think this has been going on for about a year now with us and I still don't know where it came from, although I suspect it started at work.

If somebody had told me 2 years ago that I would be buying tiny mites to put in my home to eat other mites I would have told them they were crazy :0]

Thanks again to everybody for your advice and support x
