Guest guest
I remember going through Köln on the train in the middle of the night. We moved to Indiana in 2005, only a few miles from the Illinois border, then in 2007 we moved north to Minnesota, we shan't be going back to Europe until after my youngest finishes school in 2014. Maybe we'll go back to beautiful Wales or maybe we'll go somewhere else. I'd like to travel more but, apart from our resposibilities, I'm probably to old to hike around the far east. ;~P On 7 June 2011 14:43, Aggi <aggi_assmann@...> wrote: I do live in Leverkusen, which is right between Dusseldorf and Cologne in the west of Germany. Weather and rain have undone it again, And now you would never know There was once a road through the woods Before they planted the trees. It is underneath the coppice and heath, And the thin anemones. Only the keeper sees That, where the ring-dove broods, And the badgers roll at ease, There was once a road through the woods. Yet, if you enter the woods Of a summer evening late, When the night-air cools on the trout-ringed pools Where the otter whistles his mate. (They fear not men in the woods, Because they see so few) You will hear the beat of a horse's feet, And the swish of a skirt in the dew, Steadily cantering through The misty solitudes, As though they perfectly knew The old lost road through the woods…. But there is no road through the woods. The Way Through the Woods - Rudyard Kipling

Guest guest
Hello ,No, I don't think we were near those places, we were out in the woods, a few miles outside a smallish town called Montezuma. If my memory serves it was about 60 miles west of Indianapolis. Now we are about 40 miles SW of Minneapolis. :~) Land of 10,000 lakes & Mosquitoes like birds ;~P Do you live in Indiana?KrysOn 7 June 2011 17:08, Benton <sarahbenton48@...> wrote: Were you around the , Chesterton area of Indiana? Guest guest
Hi Krys, I was born in Valparaiso, Indiana. We moved to Indianapolis while my father finished college and then moved back up north to Chesterton at the tip of Lake Michigan. We could see Chicago from the coastline. We moved to Georgia when I was nine, but two of my Aunts are still alive and up there. My grandfather was Swedish, and my Grandmother was ish, and my father's family was 3rd generation English from Wales. I suppose from my own personal experience I thought maybe there had been a lot of settelment there from England once and you may have had family there, I was just curious. In East Tennessee there is a strong German influence - the mountains you know. Love and light, I do live in Leverkusen, which is right between Dusseldorf and Cologne in the west of Germany. I used to live in Dusseldorf for 30 odd years, but moved then to Leverkusen to be closer to my workplace. In Dusseldorf I worked for Henkel and am now in the pharmaceutical industry.Where about are you living in the States Krys ? I moved to Illinois in 2005, later on to Wisconsin and returned after 14 months of staying. It seems like you've been around the block... just like me:-) > > > > >>>>> > > > >>>>> > > > >>>>Â> > > > >>>>>Hi!> > > > >>>>>> > > > >>>>>THank you so much for sharing. Guest guest
Hi ,My daughter has a close friend who lives in Michigan City Indiana, I gather that is close to Chicago. Georgia must be nice as it probably isn't totally impossible to drive to the sea in one day. I probably miss the sea more than anything else. I'm English but lived in Wales for very many years. Wales is very beautiful, very green, with large rolling hills & mountains plus lots of castles. They say Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the world, but I don't know whether that is true. I seem to have been to very many airports in US & have flown over lots of interesting looking places, but, unfortunately, I have not driven through very many states. I want to go to drive out to the West Coast & see the Pacific. LOL. My son is talking of, perhaps wanting to go to MIT instead of a European university so maybe we'll be here a bit longer & get some travelling in. Best wishesKrysOn 8 June 2011 08:22, Benton <sarahbenton48@...> wrote: Hi Krys, I was born in Valparaiso, Indiana. Guest guest
My daughter is currently in Boston going to U. Mass. She loves Boston but says the experience has been enough and looks forward to graduating at the end of the summer. Boston is very expensive apartment wise. My ex makes a lot of money and pays for s living. $2,500.00 a month for a one bedroom, but it is next to the Purdental Center and Mike feels a very safe environment for a single young woman with all the extra security in the area due to conventions. My grandfather went to MIT. It's a great school. Many kids get roommates and split rent often living outside of Boston proper and take the subway in. A 3 bedroom there can cost $600. a month. Not bad when split between 3. I've been to Michigan City only once to go to the movies when I was visiting a long time ago. I believe it was a 45 minute ride from Chesterton. Chesterton is known as the, "Gateway" to the Dunns State Park. Visitors usually stay there at the Spring Inn. My last name is Betterton which is rare in the states. I'm told it is not in the UK. We know relatives in Sweden and land, but my father's family has been here for too many generations to know family in the UK. We still retain some sayings like, "Bloody, blimy, etc. and this causes my daughters to try to encourage me to teach in the UK. Well, that's American for you - we are all mutts. Guest guest
Bow-wow! I do live in Leverkusen, which is right between Dusseldorf and Cologne in the west of Germany.
