Dear Tim and Rob,Tim, I agree with most of what you are saying about bird mites, BUT, mites do carry Lyme disease and co-infections. Mites bite birds who are the largest carriers of Lyme disease now I believe, not just ticks and The #1 reason why Lyme disease is spreading exponentially all over the globe. This is how my husband and I got Lyme disease and co-infections. Many people who had bird mites or rodent mites do end up with Lyme disease and co-infections. Also thank you for the fine work you do. And thank you Rob for your great email. Re: Mites Eradicated...glad to hear!

Hi Rob,Glad to read some success stories now and then. It helps to motivate others who have not had much luck. I am glad you were able to see the mite that caused the problem for you, unfortunately some types of bird mites, specifically D. Gallinae, are much harder to see. You species was dark and large enough to view and most likely was the NFM variety.Regarding your questions: * If the BL is air breathing how can it live in certain parts of our bodies? Bird mites are body breathers through holes/vents in their exoskeletan and can live long periods in water, etc. They do not stay long internally, mainly at night and to lay eggs. Such as in the ears, nostrils, etc. * Are we all infested with the same bug? No, there are many species of parasitic mites which bother humans, some still unidentified. * If we all collected a sample on clear tape and write a personal account could we not send it to every University, Gov health department, WHO, Museum, etc???? This time of year in the US, I know the CDC hears lots of complaints on this issue, however, because mites do not typically spread pathogens and cause disease, this would not be their area of interest. * Why does it affect only us folk that do not have the funds to eradicate it, do rich people get affected? It can sure seem like that, but when I hosted birdmites.org I heard from people from all walks of life who had to deal with this, including doctors, nurses, TV newshosts, etc. One dermatologist from SA who was afflicted felt that his colleagues were not fully educated on this issue and was in the process of writing about his ordeal. Thanks again and continued success here,Tim

Hi There are one or two scientfic papers naming bird mites as vectors for a few diseases. I have also read abstracts from papers on mosquitoes carrying Lymes. How lucky I am that, thus far, bird mites have not interested in bitng me (touch wood). It is strange how some poeple are affected & not others. I've had Northern Fowl Mites on my hands & arms several times. But, unfortunately, the mozzies love me.

-- They shut the road through the woods

Seventy years ago.

Weather and rain have undone it again,

And now you would never know

There was once a road through the woods

Before they planted the trees.

It is underneath the coppice and heath,

And the thin anemones.

Only the keeper sees

That, where the ring-dove broods,

And the badgers roll at ease,

There was once a road through the woods.

Yet, if you enter the woods

Of a summer evening late,

When the night-air cools on the trout-ringed pools

Where the otter whistles his mate.

(They fear not men in the woods,

Because they see so few)

You will hear the beat of a horse's feet,

And the swish of a skirt in the dew,

Steadily cantering through

The misty solitudes,

As though they perfectly knew

The old lost road through the woods….

But there is no road through the woods.

The Way Through the Woods - Rudyard Kipling

So true dear. I too believe that the mites vector Morgellons in many instances. The mites came first here. Re: Mites Eradicated...glad to hear!

Hi ,

Yes, you are corect, mites do carry pathogens and are documented as

transmitting disease to humans on occassion. I would hope the CDC had

the time to look more fully into them, but I know they would state that,

normally bird mites are not a threat to people, and so their priorities

will be to more contagious organisms, and vectors. I also feel that

Morgellons has been vectored from mites as many of those afflicted first

had to deal with some type of mite before the fibers and lesions

occured.

Mites were here first for us, too - then springtails and morgellons...........In packing up what little we are taking on our upcoming move I am SHOCKED to find the amount of dead bugs, black specs and fiber balls in all sorts of weird places.  I have cleaned this house every single day since this started.  Wow - I missed so many things.  Never thought to take pictures off the wall to dust or clean the china sitting in the cabinet (why on earth would these things get into the china cabinet - hiding, I guess).  Moral to the story - just when you think you've cleaned, start again.  Under furniture, on high to reach shelves, behind bookcases, etc..  Big lesson - thought I was doing a great job.  These things have too many places to sneak off to and they are smart - well, smarter than me, anyhow!

Hugs to all!On Tue, May 24, 2011 at 3:53 PM, <Goldstein@...> wrote:

Hi Tim

My questions are at last answered.

Thanks Rob

-----Original Message-----From: bird mites [mailto:bird mites ] On Behalf Of bird mites-owner Sent: 23 May 2011 23:30bird mites Subject: Re: Mites Eradicated...glad to hear!

Good luck with the moving! WHere are you moving to, and are you bringing anything?HugsCeciliaFrom: zen morgie <zenmorgie@...>bird mites Sent: Tue, May 24, 2011 10:14:19 PMSubject: Re: Re: Mites Eradicated...glad to hear!

So true dear. I too believe that the mites vector Morgellons in many instances. The mites came first here.

Re: Mites Eradicated...glad to hear!

Hi ,

Yes, you are corect, mites do carry pathogens and are documented as

transmitting disease to humans on occassion. I would hope the CDC had

the time to look more fully into them, but I know they would state that,

normally bird mites are not a threat to people, and so their priorities

will be to more contagious organisms, and vectors. I also feel that

Morgellons has been vectored from mites as many of those afflicted first

had to deal with some type of mite before the fibers and lesions

occured.
