Boric acid kills three ways:

It shreds larvae

It dessicates

It electrocutes (interrupts the constant flow of electricity that surrounds their bodies)

Nylar kills by preventing the formation of the egg tooth in organisms that have eggs (I don't think our critters do, but it will help with roaches and fleas), which means they cannot get out of the egg. It affects the living mothers' eggs, which means it is the next generation that will not be born.

TweetMint is just my choice of a "knock-down" which is needed anytime you disturb an insect or mite population. It is healthier than many alternatives. It is made from meat tenderizer, detergent, and peppermint oil.

The meat tenderizer is a protease (protein enzyme) which means that it starts dissolving soft tissue on the critters immediately.

The peppermint oil burns, and increases the pain caused by the protease. The detergent - not sure why this is part of the TweetMint but I do know that if you drop an insect into a glass with water and detergent, it does not die, but it cannot move for a bit.

Don't wait to "get your house ready." As soon as the stuff arrives, SPRAY IT. The critters will of course try to hide where the spray does not reach, but in the process of getting across your floor or wall to get there, they are exposed to the goodies.

Places to spray: ceilings, walls, floors, all porous surfaces, all around pictures if you still have any on the walls, all around the moldings and cracks and fixtures and outlets and switches.

Places to avoid or take care: anything your child or pet might eat, and live electrical wiring.

Over the course of 8 weeks, the fliers should reduce, then virtually stop, if not completely stop. Like I said, I do not have fliers, and I think without doing this I would.

Supplement with vacuuming everything weekly and every 1-3 days right around where you sleep and sit, or mop daily with your favorite anti-critter "mop sauce." If you can, cover your chair and change the cover frequently. I rely heavily on disposables to reduce my wash load. I get disposable bedsheets and the smaller sheets I use on my chairs (I think they are 40x60") at medexsupply.com. It is the only place I've found them so far. If you go to the site, just search for "disposable" and poke around to see what you want.

The spraying lasts 8 months but I do it every 6 to be sure I don't forget.

Love,

kajay
