I had no idea Zoe. That's a lot of money! My gosh, that's terrible. It really sounds like from what you and Mel said this heating can be botched and or not effective. If you don't get enough heat it won't kill things off and if you get too much it could ruin what you have. I wonder what it would do to laminate flooring? Am so glad it at least worked for Zmooks. Lucky her. Caution in everything I guess is the best; really investigate before doing this. But if you hire a company most of us would never know they didn't know what they were doing. I wonder what company Zmooks used, or if they did it themselves. I think they did it themselves.

It's easy to do . you could do one room at a time. you could rent the machine. her hubby rented a propane heater.. they use them on construction sites to dry stuff quickly.

they stuck it in the window.

but that is not what got rid of her mites.

It was the ivermectin and giving up her pets that did it.

We took Ivermectin and it didn't do it for us. Maybe if we had taken it longer? I didn't notice much difference from several weeks only of Ivermectin, but we are I think about 90-95% there... we didn't have pets to contend with and were grateful we didn't have them. I have often wondered about people who have pets and how hard it is to give up their pets, especially when their pets are like their children. I know quite a few people with bad mite problems that just can't get rid of the mites and this I think is a huge factor. I don't know what I would do in this situation.

When bird mites get uncomfortable with the heat in 1 room, they simply travel to

a different room until things cool down again. The entire house must be treated

at once and for several hours in a row to be effective for bird mites.
