Guest guest
Cecilia, Have you ever seen the mites? Love and Light, From: Cecilia Borg <ceciliaborg@...>Subject: HELP down againbird mites Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 5:05 PM HI, all! We have had a time with less bites after 2 sanitations by a new PCO. ALso really rigorous vacuuming every day everywhere in a very big house. We´re totally exhausted, but because we´ve only had a couple of bites lately we´ve still been happy. Now it´s 4,5 weeks since last sanitation by PCO and it´s starting to increase again. I even got bit at my daughters school today on my stomach. I thought I´m only imagining, but came home and checked: a bite was there-despite clothes only worn 3 times and offcourse washed with borax and ammonia in between. ANyone got a washing regimen that really works cause this with Borax and ammonia doesn´t seem to be enough and it is also extremely costly for us to buy the borax in Sweden. We have also thrown all clothes and bought new cheap ones to the whole family except winter jackets that we launder every other day. We launder everything everyday also bedlinnens and pillows. Still on (changed 4 times) tent beds and air matresses. I don´t know what to do now, cause I had hopes but everything is getting worse again and we don´t have more money for more Pestcontrol (had 5 times). How can we keep living like this with 2 children one 1 year old and one soon 8? Please give me some hope! Really can´t do more cause there is only 24 hours in one day. My husband is maby loosing his job, because his been home to support some days. ´Has anyone just skipped everything for a week or so (I mean not vacuuming, not borax and ammonia in wash etc) and what happened then- did it become even worse? Cause if it won´t get better I don´t know how to endure doing all this everyday. Can the mites live on your skin for a long time or do you thing they crawl and hide in the clothes in the meantime, between meals? We even sold our house CHEAP(with open info about mites, but because a PCO company made a check for the buyers and saw nothing they are not afraid of it and the PCO says it is not a big problem- how can they say that???) and have so far nowhere to live after May the 23rd when the new buyers move in. Will it really help to move? and if not I guess I´ll be totally broken. By now I eat low dose of Fluanxol that I finally thought I better do to survive. But my family is NOT imagining this, so probably the problems might be worse than I think cause the Fluanxol make the nerves react less on for example crawlings. I NEVER thought I would eat any medicins like that but now I´m there. No one seems to help among doctors etcetera as you know, but how can you stand all this - live like this? I can´t and wouldn´t- if it were´nt for my kids I would be long gone... SORRY for this message - long and a lot of complaining, but I just don´t know what to do and you know that there is no one to talk to who understands or knows what strategie to take- except you guys.... Guest guest
Hi I boil all my clothes in a big clam steamer size pot , about a 40 qt. I then wash in arm & hammer powdered laundry soap 1 cup & hang to dry in the bathroom & use a hair dryer for 3 hours to help dry ( the hair dryer is on low: 1000 watt , the cost is 6.5 cents per kilo watt hour which is 1000 watt , it is cheaper than my clothes dryer. The hair dryer costs about 6.5X 3 (hrs)= .19.5 cents & the bathroom is sterile due to washing with dawn dish soap & then epsom salts 1 cup per 3 cups of water & or arm & hammer powdered laundry soap 1 cup per gallon. Shoes , baking soda 1-2 tbls per boot per day. It they are still in there 1 cup arm & hammer powdered laundry soap & 10 squirts of windex (for the alcohol soap & antifreeze that is in windex) . I then shake the boot & leavve it for 8 hrs & dump out the powder all around the outside of the house to protect the perimeter. PCO'S , they rarely know how to kiil this bug . A fogger from www.cedarcide.com for $200.00 & 1 cup of borax & 1 gallon of water works very well . Any thing can be fogged in a tri-jet fogger , windex, 1 cup arm & hammer powdered laundry soap & 1 gal of water , orange cleaners , spic & span wall washing detergent. 3 cups epsom salts & 1 gallon of water. I also use powders , baking soda , borax , arm & hammer powdered laundry soap , boric acid ( rarely ) I put 1 cup of any of these dry powders in a blender with no lid & place a fan behind the blender to waft the powder all over everything while I am gone . I use a lamp wall socket timer to shut off the blender in 15 mins so the blender will not burn out. Shan & shanspirations says DE 75% & 25 perc 5 fleapowder mixed together poofed with a garden rose duster all over the house will kill the bug . Then use Nylar growth regulator sprayed on the whole house per the concentration on the label. Then, burn menthol crytals to make the bug run for fresh air & out in to this powder poison . Shan said the menthol crystals are very important . She used 1 teasp in a coffe warmer or a candle scent diffuser per room . This makes a very very very strong menthol smell , it even makes my eyes water if I go in the room holding my breath , so I do it with the door shut. I use a candle under a tin can with 1 teasp menthol crystals per 12X15 room . menthol crystals are sold at health food stores 17.00 for 1/2 Lb. ( about 60 teasp The bug comes out of every where running for fresh air . It works very well. It might be a good time to fog right about then., but then re powder with the DE & fleapowder mix again . Here is Shans directions , she stopped the bug in her environment in 2 months here is the link , it is one of the best I have ever seen . DE hard on lungs & vacuums cleaners , I always spray borax water over it to lock it down if I use it , it is probally more effective if you don't because DE is SUPER FINE diatom fossil shells ground up & it cuts bugs as the crawl thu it , but I can't breathe DE Here is an excerpt from her net site http://www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 Home About Me Our Story Shanspirations Blessed to Be a Homekeeper: My Everyday Education, My Everyday Delights. Help! I m Being Bit By Something I Can t See! What do I do? After nearly three months of dealing with some sort of invisible biting bug I d like to take a moment to detail what we would do if we knew at the start what we know now. If you find this post and you have just started experiencing this problem, this is a best practices snapshot of our current knowledge and experience. This is a guideline for getting rid of the bites . I suspect that this guide could be shortened and that other very effective products could be mentioned, but I don t know about them and can t shorten it with my current knowledge. I wish and I could have found a step-by-step guide, even if flawed, three months ago when we first got this problem—so I offer this one to help anyone it can. Step 1 - Place Internet Orders for Long Term Relief It will take you about a week to receive all of the products you need to fight the bugs, so your first step should be to order the products. We have tried many options recommended by others and ones we thought of on our own. These are the products that have produced the best results, most of which are not commonly available and need to be ordered. I have broken these products down into two categories - products to fix the problem in your house / car / workplace, and products to help the problem on your skin. Products to Clean Your Environment - You should order ALL of these products, they are all important, so don t skip any of them just because they seem unfamiliar right now. Feel free to shop around to get the best price. Diatomaceous Earth - DE is the fossilized remains of single cell diatoms. Diatoms look like a knife blade under the microscope, and they act like crushed glass to insects causing rapid dehydration. There are two kinds, amorphous (food grade) and crystalline. The crystalline type is made by subjecting the DE to heat, which changes the structure of the amorphous silica into crystalline silica. Crystalline DE is useful for filtering applications (pools, labs, etc) however it can cause silicosis if inhaled, and is ineffective against insects. You will want the amorphous silica food grade DE, which you will almost certainly need to order.Prices for food-grade DE vary dramatically. If you buy it in gel-caps as a supplement it will cost you $200/lb, however if you buy it in bulk you can get it for less then $1/lb. We bought a 50 lb bag for under $50 from Wolf Creek Ranch, however you can get smaller quantities for a reasonable price from Yardiac Garden Center. You will need about 1 lb to dust a 1500 sq ft house and 2-3 lbs for personal use (in shoes, on your bed, etc). This will get you about 1-2 weeks of treatment. We have used about 15 lbs since we got the stuff. We found out about this product from an out-of-town exterminator friend. Pyrethrum Powder - If you read much about this problem you will hear repeatedly that pyrethroids are ineffective against these mites. This is partially true in that a pyrethroid alone will almost certainly not work, however we had good success using it in combination with DE. I think that these insects quickly become immune to pyrethroids, so you will want to use the powder the right way so that you get rid of them the first time.I tried a synthetic pyrethroid (cypermethrin) in our cars (with a fogger) and it made a big difference the first time (not a total fix, but it helped a lot), however within a week they were back stronger then ever and additional uses of the fogger didn t seem to do anything at all.The option I would use if I did it over again would be to purchase pyrethrum powder (shop around, this is just an example). What we did use was a dog flea powder (0.5% permethrin) that we bought locally for a very expensive price ($5 / 4 oz).Mix the cont more at http://www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 God bless you , Bill On Wed Jan 26th, 2011 8:04 PM EST Pingolt wrote: >, you are a blessing. Guest guest
Cecelia, Would an MD prescribe doxycycline 3 times a day you let them know that others who had bird mite infestations got a skin disease from them that was cured by this. I believe my husband and I have finally seen the end of this battle with the use of doxy 3 times per day. I thank ROse in my prayers everyday for suggesting this to us. 2 times a day did nothing for us, even after weeks and weeks. 3 times a day stopped the biting completely. Please try this somehow just to see if it worked for at least 1 of you. Please try this before deciding to move. We are so thankful we did not move now. Some type of bacteria was living in our skin (and intestines, etc...) and thereby attracting biting mites to us no matter where we were. The bacteria marked us as a host for mites of all kinds and also for thrips. This went on in Europe, in Hawaii, in all parts of US for us for 2 years. We still take acidophilus/bifidilus 1 time a day and take omega supplements. But that is it. My thoughts are with you and your family, z3 > > > > > > > See below. > > > > > > HELP down again > > > > > > > > HI, all! > > We have had a time with less bites after 2 sanitations by a new PCO.
