Guest guest
Dear Kajay!THanks for instructions about your spraying. WIll the ceilings and things get ruined by it? I wouldn´t care if it wasn´t for that we have sold the house and can´t make destroyed before they move in in 3 months. In the new place I won´t care, the only thing that matters is to get rid of the mites!Take care and hope your liver problems will solve.CeciliaFrom: Kajay109 <kajay109@...>bird mites Sent: Sat, February 5, 2011 3:40:50 AMSubject: kajay to cecelia Cecelia, this is in answer to your questions about my spray ingredients. If I can find it I will get you the recipe for Tweetmint. However, it is made by mixing any sink detergent + meat tenderizer + peppermint oil. I forget the amounts. I order from safe2use.com or from Arbico Organics. The meat tenderizer is papaya based (papain) and it is a protease which means it is an enzyme (-ase) that dissolves protein (prote-) Yes, I start by unscrewing the sprayer mechanism and removing it from the gallon sprayer, then sitting the sprayer in my kitchen sink. I fill it about 1/4 full (about a quart, no need to be exact) of hot tap water. I pour in 1/2 cup of boric acid or if I only have 20-Mule Team Borax, I use a full cup. I add however much of the Nylar IGR the package says to use for a gallon sprayer, and stir that in. Tweetmint is diluted 1/4 tsp to a quart of water for light cleaning or spraying mosquitos out of the air (which is actually kinda fun when I need a distraction, lol!) or 1/2 tsp to a quart of water for mopping. I use that strength, so since I am using a gallon sprayer, I multiply the 1/2 tsp by 4 and that gives me 2 tsp, so that is how much Tweetmint I add to the water in the sprayer. I stir that in a bit, then fill the sprayer with more water (temp doesn't matter any more) to the gallon mark. I spray my shoes first. That keeps desperate or angry critters from "storming" up my leg. Then I twist the sprayer till it sprays a thin continuous stream rather than a spray. I do this because if I just mist everything, I am not providing a barrier the critters must cross. When I have just misted, I have always had to go back and spray the thin streams. I got the hint. They can just walk right around where tiny droplets land. But if I put a complete perimeter/border around everything, then they cannot get to anything withou crawling through the dried solution, and you want them to do that cuz that is how you hurt 'em! After I spray my feet, I spray a thin but complete circle around every piece of furniture, all upholstery, and each door and window. When I am done, my walls and ceiling especially look like Zorro got carried away! I really keep it simple and spray only what I have to for it to work, because I know I have to make that gallon last. And a gallon, if I stretch it VERY carefully, will spray a well-furnished 2,500 sq foot home (that looks like it got nuked, lol!) KJ
