Guest guest
CNN finally posted my comment after three tries and 24 hours! (it wasn't there earlier today). Winnie September 23, 2009 I went to Afghanistan and all I got was H1N1 Posted: 06:34 PM ET Brown Blog - StaffFiled under: H1N1 By Dr. Sanjay GuptaCNN Chief Medical Correspondent It started as a cough. It wasn’t the kind of cough where something is temporarily stuck in your throat. It wasn’t the kind of cough where simply clearing your throat would’ve been adequate. This was the kind of cough that hurts when you do it. A stinging pain that makes you wince and guard and hope that you don’t have to cough again any time soon. I thought I might have a fever, but of course, I was in the middle of covering a war in Afghanistan, and the conditions were… well, hot. So, maybe it was that. Problem was, the next day I wasn’t feeling any better – in fact, I was worse. I woke up in my dusty desert tent and tried to step out of my sleeping bag. Two steps later, I almost hit the deck. Incoming. Except this wasn’t due to any sirens going off, this was due to my own body simply being unable to hold myself up. I was lightheaded and freezing cold – even though it was over 100 degrees outside at that early hour of the morning. Is this a true fact? Heard that the other day. Glad you feel better and that you shared your story, hopefully will put a lot of people at ease… Bob Rutherford Toronto September 23rd, 2009 8:48 pm ET Why do some people get so sick with the swine fly and others don’t? September 23rd, 2009 8:54 pm ET According to what you said on national televison…it looks like the Swine Flu is not as deadly as everyone assumes it is. A couple days in bed at home and you can fight it off. Forget getting the vaccine (which contains Thimerosal, a deadly antiseptic and antifungal agent) Thimerosal is a derivative of mercury…do you really want that in your body? Winnie on September 23rd, 2009 9:37 pm ET People should be aware that the swine flu vaccine is experimental, it will contain mercury and/or squalene (if not the mist version) and, as with every vaccine, it carries the risk of death and is not guaranteed to work. Pharmaceutical companies have no liability in either case. Google squalene to find out just how dangerous it is. It is shameful that our government is recommending it be given to pregnant women, babies and children without proper safety testing, especially for something which is now being diagnosed on symptoms alone in order to pump up the “need” for the vaccine. There are plans to put vaccination clinics in schools and forced, mass vaccinations are a very real possibility. People need to stand up for their rights to make their own medical decisions. What ever happened to informed consent? It would be nice if you posted this since you didn’t when I previously made this comment. People have a right to this information. Mike - Kansas September 23rd, 2009 9:38 pm ET Dr. Gupta – First off, I am glad that you are getting over the H1N1. I just wanted to comment that I am pleased that you correctly identify H1N1 as such and didn’t use the term Swine Flu. To bad the rest of the staff at CNN doesn’t get on board and correctly identify this flu as H1N1 instead of calling it Swine Flu!
