Tetanus ? Help! Urgent care.

Someone on another list needs our help! Obviously she shouldn't get it but

anything I can say to help her make this decision??

We are at the Urgent Care at this moment w/ our toddler for a cut on his finger

from getting smashed in the closet door. They are recommending a tetanus

booster. Any advice appreciated.

First, if you haven't had one before you shouldn't get the ones in the ER--can't

remember why. Also, the one they give they give in the ER is pooled blood from

those who have had tetanus.

Unless your closet door is teeming with tetanus, it shouldn't even be an issue.

How much tetanus is on a closet door

Even if the vaccine worked

And if never vaccinated with tetanus vaccine, should never get the

vaccine to prevent tetanus in a real tetanus-risk injury

must get tetanus immune globulin but I wouldn't get that either as it

is pooled blood of vaccinated

And this child is NOT at risk for tetanus for such an injury
