Dear Katrina,

I glad you wrote the group. I joined just a couple of weeks ago and everyone

has been so helpful and informative. I want to be able to respond better

about your questions and have to go help my kids right now! So I will write

more soon to help you out. But I just wanted you to know that your message

was read and I think it is so wonderful you are giving your mother-in-law so

much help. Hang in there!

Thank you, I really hope Gladys can have a normal life. But no life is

normal. I guess it's just hard to see her go threw the things she does, and

knowing there's nothing you can do but pray.

This group is wonderful. I've learned so much from everyone. And I do see

there is hope for Mammie. She amazes me in so many ways but most of all it's

because she doesn't complain. She just smiles and goes on. When she first

got sick we all thought she wouldn't get threw it. And I told my husband I'd

do anything just to see her smile again like she use to, now she does. We

pray alot now and try to learn everything we can about Still's and ways to

help her. Thank you for writing. Katrina

Dear Katrina,

It sounds like you and your husband are doing all the right things for

Gladys. I find the best help of all is having a supportive family and

friends. There are definitely good days and bad ones, but I try and find

something to smile about each day! Luckily, I have 4 little kids that help

with that, but I know that you and your husband do the same for your

mother-in-law. Please feel free to write if you have any questions or need

any support.

All the best,

Katrina,

I'm hoping you are still on-line. Where are you located? I do have some

ideas of where to find doctors. Also, I used to have a list I got from the

STills Foundation and will locate it and send it to you (hopefully shortly).

But if you are still on-line, please email me where you live (if you prefer

to send it to my personal email, you are welcome to do so....

lesliezev@...)

hang in there!

Katrina,

First of all, let me say I'm really sorry Gladys is having so much trouble.

In my concern to find out where you are located, I didn't take the time to

tell you that earlier.

Below is a list of names that the Stills Foundation once sent out. You may

also want to call the Arthritis Foundation -- The number I have is

888-467-3112. I'm not sure if that is the NJ chapter or a national number.

I don't know if they actually give out advice on doctors -- maybe if anyone

else out there is reading this, they may know. I have to call the Arthritis

Foundation tomorrow because I have some questions about my own doctor. I'll

be happy to see what I can find out for you too.

Thank you for writing. Gladys was doing great when she came out of the

hospital a little over a week ago, now she is really sick again. Running

fevers and a rash on her arms and legs. She could get out of a chair on her

own but now has to have help. It seems like when she gets blood she's fine

for a week or so but then gets sick.

Hopefully they will figure out something to help her. There going to try to

find another doctor to help her. Do you know of any? Thank You, Katrina

I was looking over your list of Dr's and I noticed that Dr Moder of Mayo

Clinic is listed at Rochester New York. I believe after looking at the info

on Mayo that the Dr is G Moder at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in

Minnesota. You may want to check and see if a mistake has been made. He

has written many articles on Still's. Us midwesterners need all the Dr's we

can get!!!

Keep smiling!

Hi Katrina and welcome.I am Elly and I have many functions in this group

including greeter, none of which I can seem to get right!I am so glad you found

us.You will find so many wonderful people with so many different personalities

and a fair amount of laughter, especially from the males in the group. You will

also find many sad stories, but if you need to be lifted up,just say so and some

great Stills person will make your day.I love this group and don't know where

I'd be if not for a few members who in the begining gave me great support and

love.I hate naming names, but Cat and and Bob and Tom and everyone who was

here when I joined have made such a difference in my life.I seem to always be

Hi Katrina and welcome.I am Elly and I have many functions in this group

including greeter, none of which I can seem to get right!I am so glad you found

us.You will find so many wonderful people with so many different personalities

and a fair amount of laughter, especially from the males in the group. You will

also find many sad stories, but if you need to be lifted up,just say so and some

great Stills person will make your day.I love this group and don't know where

I'd be if not for a few members who in the begining gave me great support and

love.I hate naming names, but Cat and and Bob and Tom and everyone who was

here when I joined have made such a difference in my life.I seem to always be

saying to my hubby, my group says followed by the advice I've just read.It

seems that is a natural intro to any Stills subject! We have many new people

every week and they just add to the richness in my life.I hope I also help them

occasionally, because everyone needs at least one

Hi Katrina

Hope all is well with you.

A while back I made a post that said Jenner's son died early of consumption.

You replied that widiped( wrong spelling I am sure) had it listed that Jenner's

son lived to be a ripe old age.

I pulled it up and sure enough you were correct.

Then one day I was talking to a girl at the Health food store, and I

brought this Widiped up. She said her professor told the class that it was

unreliable for research.

She said people can just change or add or subtract whatever they want. Do you

know

if that is true?

Any way I went looking for my source and here is what I found. First I think I

mentioned  before my source was a book called " The Poisoned Needle " by Eleanor

McBean 1974.

On page 29 she says " Jenner inoculated his 18 months old son with swine

pox, on November 1791 and again in April, 1798 with cowpox.  The boy was never

very well after that and died of tuberculosis at the age of 21. "

Well I thought the point was important, but not major, as Jenner had been proven

to be a nutcase who thought he was God anyway.

Then I came across a real old book called " Vaccination Tracts " written in 1892.

" Jenner held that swine pox , smallpox, cow pox and various other similar

affections, are all only varieties of the same disease, and he inoculated with

swine pox his eldest son , who died of consumption -as did Phipps,

the first patient whom Jenner inoculated with cow pox. "

So at this point I will have to disregard that other source until more proof

comes in. I know you were very interested in getting to the truth and said you

would not give up until you found it. I was wondering if you have been able to

dig up anymore facts.

I forgot to mention that the one site used the term " presumed " to be

that Phipps. The only thing about the old books is that those people were

actually involved with all this health and vaccination. So unless we are dealing

with liars or exaggerators and some bias the basic facts seem to balance with

the other authors of old.  On the other hand all the current teachings of

medical come from the old allopaths also. So as the books are rewritten

depending on the author and who pays him/her or is supplying the material we

don't know what part may be put in that is bias. For example much of the

learning doctors get are books supplied to them by the drug company's. So that

would be obvious, they would supply all the old information about germs causing

disease so they could sell their drugs via doctors. I know I had a book written

for doctors written by a drug company that told them the same as today. It was

comprised of symptoms, cause and treatments, which and what drugs to give for

each ailment. So I think I would

lean toward a Medical Doctor who went through the system and turned his back on

it rather than information being provided by a company that has a lot to gain.

I think ,like ,yourself I demand proof, but with current allopathic belief

being  basically based on studies, which is based mostly on the studiers

conclusions. It is difficult to find proof that germs cause disease or drugs

help the body heal or vaccines prevent disease. And it is these ideas which are

old that " modern "   medicine are founded upon.

Anyway I think we agree that the info on Phipps leaves questions on both sides..

there is probably no way to definitely verify either way. But what about Phipps

being a mourner at Jenner's funeral? He would be around 35 at Jenner's death.

Well, we can physically go to that church and ask to see official records, LOL,

if someone is up for that? Don't forget that in 1820's things were primative,

everything was hand written and his record in We need to look at which side has

more weight, more proof. I will still investigate and maybe i'll unearth

something new.

Thanks Katrina. Liv is old enough to help me with dinner now, so we ended

up cooking after all. Im super happy we did too, as Im noticing how

easily traditions can be forgotten. This is one I want to keep (at my

house), if you know what I mean.

Blessings to you and your family in 2012!
