He's positive it's acid reflux? I have to say, that term never existed years

ago, and I think it does now so they can prescribe meds for it. It's possible he

might have allergies that are causing the hoarseness. I don't know, I'm not

there. But I agree with you to look for natural meds instead of the garbage the

doc is prescribing.

I would try some probiotics and avoid acidic foods. You can google to find out

what they are.

I too would first look at his diet.

It frustrates me that doctors just say " take zantac " or whatever drug - without

first finding out why its happening.

Good luck!

So sorry about your little one's problem. I have never heard of acid reflux

causing problem w/voice in a child. I'd research as much as possible and consult

with homeopath. They tried to give my baby the strong meds for acid reflux and

she didn't even have it. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Acid reflux medication for a 3 year old HELP

I know this is a bit off topic, but my son had been diagnosed with Apraxia

(verbal) a year ago.? According to our slp he does not have that anymore and

probably never did.? I was told to bring him to check his vocal cords since his

voice is odd extremely horse and looses sounds at end of words and most of the

time even his voice.? The ENT he went to claimed he had acid reflux which was

causing the problem with his voice.? He said we could put him on Zantac for a

month and if that wasn't working we would switch to a stronger med. I never put

him on the meds and was freaking out.? Is there any natural remedies someone

could recommend.? His voice is getting worse by the day and I am starting to

worry sick over it.? Thanks for all your help :)

I would consult with a homeopath. Where do you live? If you need

help finding one, Sheri may know of someone in your area, or I'd be

happy to give you the name and number of mine. They do phone

consultations and after thorough interviews and treatment will help

with dietary recommendations, too. They are VERY good (Sheri

recommended them to me).

One natural remedy is apple cider vinegar. My friend is a choir teacher and for

years she would off and on lose her voice for no apparent reason. She was

telling me how taking acv twice a day cured it. Diluted in water, of course.

Also, today I read that apple cider vinegar is a cure for acid reflux, so maybe

you can kill 2 birds with one stone. It obviously won't taste good, but you

could mix it with juice or disguise it somehow I am sure. Here is a link from

Mercola re what I read today. I though the comments after the article were

interesting/helpful from " real life " people.

apple cider vinegar does work for some- worth a try. I used it when I was

pregnant. also- you might want to look into the cause of acid reflux.

from renew life, maybe google- has tons of info.

it is most likely cause by food sensitivities.

the meds are bad..BUT if you cannot get to the cause and eliminate them..meds

should be used if all else fails- cause you don't want the esophagus to burn.

I was going to suggest Apple Cider Vinegar as well. Braggs is the good

stuff that could be found at most grocery stores. To get it to my son I

actually just put it in apple juice and met zero resistance.

About 5 years ago my wife had that heartburn-acid reflex. Said it was bad the

burning sensation.

She quit smoking, cut down on on her coffee and made a few changes in her diet.

A little more fruit and some salads. Says has not had the problem since.
