Guest guest
ugh. ok. I have 3 unvaxed kids...ages 4, 3, and 10 months (baby is still nursing often, I am a stay at home mom). I have been having these weird " coughing attacks " for SEVERAL months- they come out of no where and mucous seems to develop from out of the blue and comes UP from the lungs and I can barely breath to cough, face turns red, sweating, weird sucking in noise in my chest at the end of my breath when I inhale...they last for an hour and then are gone. Many times they occur at night...can be everyday or once every few days. My son had a terrible cough that resulted in pneumonia last November, he was VERY sick, treated with antibiotics. SO...that said...my best friends husband has been sick all winter (always coughing, had pneumonia, etc.)- well- he went to a new dr who said they think its whooping cough (waiting on test results). Then it clicked- well duhhh- isnt that what I HAVE???? I read up on it and it sounds like what is causing my coughing attacks...but I have been having them for gosh, 8 months now!!! Not even knowing that...I started on an antibiotic (azithromicin) 2 days ago...could not stand the coughing ANY more. So my question is...is it possible I have had whooping cough for over 6 months? Is it possible that is what caused my sons pneumonia last November? Everything I read said all family members in contact need antibiotics. My daughter, only 10 months, has a cough right now and is pulling at her ear and had a bad night of sleep last night- seems to always be sick which I thought was odd since I am breastfeeding and my other kids were never this sick when they were nursing. She had one diagnoses ear infection several months ago...probably has had others since then but we chose to wait it out. My son just had another terrible cough that we were scared would turn into pneumonia again so he had antibitoics last week. SOme things I read about whopping cough (pertussin) going untreated seem scary- so what should I do now? Do I treat all my family- especially worried about my 10 month old baby- what if she has had this for months? I was wondering why we have had the worst winter ever with colds, runny/stuffy nose/cough- we have been sick more than we ahv been healthy, honestly. could we have all had whooping cough for several months???? What do I do? I can go to the ped but I need to know what to do first....they will freak out on me if I tell them I think I have it and my kids are unvaxed!!!!!!!!!! worried Amy **************Great deals on Dell’s most popular laptops – Starting at $479 (http://pr.atwola.com/promoclk/100126575x1220631252x1201390195/aol?redir=http:%2\ F%2Fad.doubleclick.net%2Fclk%3B213968550%3B35701427%3Bh)

Hi, I wonder if it might be some kind of allergic reaction to something. My 4 years old son is the same way, strong cough out of the blue when he eats or laughs or just for no reason. It all started when he turned 3 and started part time daycare. Before the daycare, he was never around many people and is unvaxed and was very healthy. But when he started daycare, he was sick constantly and our ped. sent us to allergiest/asthma specialist who think it's asthma. He is too young for a clear diagnosis but he does have food allegries and asthma go hand in hand. He also had terrible coughs, with lots of phlegm, mucus, heavy/rapid breathing. A few times he sounded terrible and i thought of pnemonia, TB, pertussis, etc.; everyone was so scarred and pushed me to admit him to a hosptial which i resisted and he got better on his own with lots of water, vit.c & d, echinesia/goldenseal. I asked our ped. about whooping cough and he said it's wasn't it(i would take whooping cough over pnemonia anyday). WC has a specific sound and a pattern that a good doctor should be able to recognize. Why don't you go to a doctor yourself for diagnosis just to see what they say about your cough. You should probably go to a specialist and don't waist time with GP. It's probably nothing or could be allergies or perhaps (god forbid ) asthma. From my understanding, WC is self-limiting and does not need any treatments. WC would be the least of your worries. Have you tried colloidal silver or other lactation safe herbs/vitamins? Drink lots of liquids to help " washing it out " and look into alternative methods to getting rid of coughs. Katarina
Guest guest
I am NO expert, but I hear it's pretty contagious. 8 months is the key here..way too long in my personal opinion for it to be WC. I would be very low key about it and head to a specialist..totally agree and NOT ask about whopping cough just find out what IT is. Probbably will get a chest X ray and antibiotics. Remember, certain antibiotics treat bacterial..some are for different things so maybe what you're on won't help. I agree. You go first and FAST. If it was WC I wouldn' announce your no vax stance. My gut is telling me it is asthma and pnemonia. Even if you were able to fight off WC on your own somewhat your children are too little..someone would have it FULL blown right now. Rememeber, when you got " it " your baby was 2 months old..BF or not it's too concoindental that she has nothing like what you have.Your BF proctection safegaurds her against what you are protected against. Breathe...I think everyone will end up being addressed differently. hang in there:) > > >> " coughing attacks " for SEVERAL months- they come out of no where and mucous > > seems to develop from out of the blue and comes UP from the lungs and I can > > barely breath to cough, face turns red, sweating, weird sucking in noise > > in my chest at the end of my breath when I inhale...they last for an hour > > and then are gone. > > Hi, I wonder if it might be some kind of allergic reaction to something.
