This is very sad. I read this and have a question...here's an exerpt from the

story...

" On the fifth day, the Pertussis took an unexpected and deadly turn. In what

seemed an instant, Dana had an aggressive reaction to the toxin, which attacked

her immune system and heart. The Pertussis blocked every drug or treatment that

the team of specialists could throw at it. We were powerless to save her. After

nearly 10 hours of desperate blood transfusions, Dana's beautiful heart stopped

beating and she let out her last sweet breath "

Ok, I'm confused....what " toxin " did Dana have an aggressive reaction to? And,

I didn't think the pertussis bacteria itself could block " every drug or

treatment " .... Can someone comment on this???

Again, this is sad and tragic - but, there's absolutly no guarentee that if

everyone around this baby was vaxxed that she'd be alive today.

Yes it is very sad...but this baby died of drug usage and pneumonia (i.e.

complications), NOT whooping cough. And obviously these people haven't heard

the news that vaccine is not effective (and this is coming from people who think

vaccines are effective in general!). It's an awful tragedy that their daughter

died but it's no reason to call for mass vaccination on faulty logic.

And here's my question..couldn't she have gotten it from another kid's

vaccination? Because one of my friends and her 3 year old son (she was vaxxed,

he wasn't) got pertussis from a child at her daycare who had been freshly

vaccinated. Incidentally, they both managed without even a hospital visit. So I

would think that pushing all people to be vaccinated might actually increase the

pertussis (am I spelling that correctly?) rates.

Also, my brother had a reaction to the pertussis booster (at age 4) that his

pediatrician said back then could have killed him, could kill him if he ever got

another booster (this from an allopathic dr. back when almost no-one doubted

vaccines). They had used a different (not-live) vaccine for his infant

vaccination, and then the company got bought out by someone else, they changed

it to a live vaccine, which was the one he got the reaction to as a 4 year old.

My mom has no doubt that if he had had the 2nd type of vaccination as a baby, it

could have been tragic.

I have another friend who spent 3 weeks in the hospital at the tender age of 3

months due to the pertussis vaccine and she nearly died. And I've heard of

babies dying from it (the vaccine). So, it's terrible and tragic that their baby

died, but vaccines won't necessarily save another baby's life. Someone on their

FB page said " Who actually knows someone who's had a vaccine reaction? " implying

that no one did. Well I do, and I'm darn lucky I still have a brother!! At the

time we were vaccinated, you could get the DPT without the pertussis portion,

and so the rest of us didn't get that shot due to my brother's reaction.

Also, when they say that baby had a reaction to the " toxin " rather than the

virus, it makes me wonder, did they try giving her a pertussis booster while she

was in the hospital? Because I've never seen someone call the regular germ a

" toxin " . Also, I'd wonder what drugs she got at the hospital and if they were

the right dose for her weight/age...

Yes, that was my original question --- what is this " toxin " they refer too. I

wish they'd say what other meds she was givin in the hospital.

Oh yes, when my family went through a round of pertusis, it was complements of a

recently vaxed friend who came down with it herself! Needless to say, we

(myself and 3 young children) all survived without complications.

Well, i did not " enjoy " reading this very tragic article. I feel very sorry that

this happened to this poor baby. We need to keep in mind that this could happen

to any baby at any time. Babies often do have lots of trouble with pertussis. It

gets less dangerous the older one gets.

>I think pertussis bacteria releases toxins and the amount of this toxin in the

blood determines the severity and progression of the disease. It reminds me of

diptheria and streph.

Well, if pertussis brought on pnemonia than it can be said that pertussis was

the cause. If she did not have pertussis she would not develope pnemonia. Of

course we don't know any details of this incident, who know what really

happened.
