I think we are giving them power when we get upset and fight. Ignore

I disagree!!! COMPLETELY! The bigger gov't becomes, the bigger they're

'inherited' power will be. Dissent makes us heard, but there is such a

thing as peaceful, tactful dissent. Write your congressperson. Spread the

word w/ apparel, bumper stickers, casual conversation w/ strangers - all of

those methods pique interest on the subject. Maybe peaceful protest as such

won't change things, but it's the best we can do, & it's not FIGHTING, which

I would associate w/ riots, etc. (depending on how you define fighting in

these terms).

My instinct would be to ignore the letter & ignore them, unless of course

they show up at your doorstep. Just cross the bridge when you come to it

(or when it comes to you & you have no choice to ignore).

Ok I get that. My definition of fighting was based of the anger comment. I

totally agree to that.

I have seen situations where a friend returned a automated call and has been

hounded ever since. For those individuals who are not as strong in their

conviction it can cause problems for them.

Wow ! I had no idea. I live in MI and my son was vax'd to 5 yrs and my

Daughter got her 18 mos shots at 2 1/2 years and then I quit. I haven't gotten

these letters or any like it. My Pediatrician fired us when I said no more

vaccinations. Where do I write to get this file locked.

Last I checked they were my kids and my husband and I created them - not the

state of MI and I.

Ihave a REAL SOLUTION TO SHARE!

When I first got these letters my blood boiled and then I wrote a seise and

decist letter. That worked until my son was in Montessori preschool. The same

evil letter came through his school and strongly inferred that if I didnt' get

him up to date he couldnt attend the school.

It's a freaking form letter!

Well this time I blew a gasket all over the new secretary, who calmly told me

she doesnt' vaccinate either. The problem is HOW DID YOU GET INTO THEIR DATA

BASE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND HOW DO YOU GET YOUR KID OUT.

Well here's how this little scam begins. When we take our kids to their first

Ped apt, we signed several forms - one of which is to allow your kid to be

entered into the data base. In Michigan it's called MRIC. Once your kid is in,

he's in for good so those of us having babies - DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM and you

will never receive the bully letter again.

But there is still something we can do to stop the letters. In Michigan, all I

had to do was sign a form which stops all information from coming in and going

out. He's still in the database but it's locked.

My son born this summer, Not in the data base at all - and my Ped didn't even

ask. In fact, I noticed on his chart a notation of no MCIR. I didn't even have

to object.

Listen, WE'VE GOT TO TAKE OUR RIGHTS BACK. Your Dr. is not an authority, he

provides a service. Remind them.

I agree you should take action but not in relation to your own file,

necessarily.

Go at it and do what you can to stop the tracking system. But I

don't think you want to address the individual aspects that relate to

your child. But its up to you - if you are up for it, as Dawn is,

then go for it.

Wow--my kids have been to two different Montessoris and I never got a letter.

Probably has to do with how rabid the nurses are at the school.

Do you know if how someone can check on their states database to see if their

children are in them? I'm assuming each state has its own setup. How did you

find out yours were still in it?

Oh, good grief. As we speak, at this moment, Aetna just called and asked my

husband if he wanted a registered nurse to come by and monitor his health!!! (He

has kidney problems). Don't they know people have their own doctors? While he

was on the phone, I told him give it to me if it's about vaccines!

Someone I know got a medical exemption from a doc in NY for college there. I'm

still avoiding NY, MD and NJ for colleges for my kids.

I think I might have called the state to make sure my kids weren't in this years

ago. I'd do it again but don't want to ask for trouble. Very interesting reading

of the vaccine registry laws: health care providers also report exemption info,

including religious exemptions. Funny, considering exemptions are for school and

the database is for children not yet in first grade (and now I understand why

they give you a Social Security number application at the hospital):

the name of each vaccination given or for permanent exemption, the name of each

vaccine exempted and whether the exemption is for medical reasons, religious

reasons, or because the child has laboratory confirmation of natural infection

with the infecting agent against which the exempted vaccine would provide

protection;

I tried 3 times to get a medical exemption and was told no, so I used the

religious exemption. Honestly, I feel I should have been able to just tell them

my vaccination history is no ones business. I make no bones about the fact I am

using a religious exemption, and bring it up when i can to educate others. I

have had several people tell me they wish they knew of this exemption.

Someone I know got a medical exemption from a doc in NY for college there. I'm

still avoiding NY, MD and NJ for colleges for my kids.

How can I find out whether we are in that registry? We never signed

forms at the ped's office (military clinic) for this. DS never had any

vaccines.

The person I know who got the exemption was lucky. I don't want to say too much

on here but it was not your regular situation. I would never even go for a

medical exemption, although my ped said all of my kids could have one based on

the older's reaction. I feel it could be overruled in a way a religious one

can't.

Hmm, it looks as if it's for providers and not parents. I called, but they don't

seem to know much and put me through to someone who wasn't in. You should

probably call and find out how kids get put in and how a parent can check, and

how they can opt out.
