Guest guest
donna, It is never to late. JJ will be 9 in 6 weeks. The school has inplimated a PECS program school wide 2 years ago. At the beginning everyone was saying that JJ would be the last one in the school to " get the program " Well he was the first to get it and progressed to the next level before anyone else in the school. One day the teacher was busy when JJ brought her the icon for drink, she kept putting him off. Finallly he brought over the whole book and smashed her over the head with it. I am disappointed that thye have not increased his ocons over the years but I haven't either. It is NEVER to late to try--JJ is doing it. Is it ever too LATE to try Pecs? We have introduced Montyman to this method several times, but to no avail....however, I have seen such changes in him this past two years, as I browse what all you are talking about, I am wondering if it isnt time to try something AGAIN, like we did the toileting....which we have been able to have much more success with this past two years! I agree that it's never too early! Donna, Montyman's Mom >> Donna, I worked with adults with disabilities that learned communication systems. I feel it is never too late to teach something. Guest guest
, This is smile to my face today. I can imagine the whole scene! Good for JJ. I hope he doesn't have any problems from doing that, teachers sometimes don't have a sense of humor!
